I am going to introduce to you a wonderful company out of Bronxville, NY called Chaos NY. When I was contacted to style a post with one of their unique artistic items from their store, I was quite excited as their store contains unique, eclectic, beautiful, one of a kind artistic pieces. Hope you enjoy how I styled this bracelet I chose.
When Chaos NY first contacted me, I wondered, perhaps it is “Organized Chaos”, but certainly Chaos in a positive way. That is exactly what I found when I went to their store to look at the selection they have. Pieces are from Africa, Peru, Mexico, Bali, imported here. There are also one of a kind pieces from artisans, and one look signifies it as a unique piece of art.
My husband and I love to go to Asheville, as we live close, and love the artsy, creative nature of the town. I was a jazz musician, so I think of ‘chaos” as kind of organized improvisation, artists having in mind what they want to do, but also perhaps adding to their vision .That is the vibe I got looking though the art and eclectic mix of chic clothing, ,jewelry, household items, recycled and reinvented items. Colorful ingenuity and beauty is how I would describe many of the pieces there.
I chose this beautiful steel mesh bracelet, with an industrial edgy look with the strap, an antique style look with its sea- blue bow design and vintage looking silver button in the center. I felt there was a lot of versatility in this piece.
Today I wanted to represent the piece wearing bold jewel toned colors. I have an affection for purple, so my purple velvet fitted jacket with my satin-like full skirt seemed just the shade to accompany the soft blue in the bracelet and blue in the vintage brooch and button earrings. The materials for me, were the unexpected, carefully chose, carefully crafted. As if I don’t need a little chaos in my life !
As a jazz musician in college, we would often sit around talking about our favorite jazz musicians. Miles Davis, Emily Remler, Wes Montgomery were a few. Charlie Parker always was a topic of conversation as his improvisational lines were often “chaotic: but organized, with a flow and artistic appeal.”
Hear it in his composition,ORINTHOLOGY (Charlie Parker).. and look for it in the Bronxville, NY store CHAOS NY.
