A Classic Combo with a Twist

IMG_6596

Hello ladies

Who doesn’t have some combination of white and black, or cream and black in their wardrobe. These staples stand the test of time.

Notice the quilted design on the bag 🙂

I wanted to make it a bit different with my printed pencil skirt, and my textured new spring cream colored bag. No ordinary cream bag will do! You all know me and my love for designer handbags, well I broke my rule and really liked the  embroidered-like  texture of this bag from Charming Charlie. I don’t have kids, but the thought of a white or cream colored bag made me think, how will I keep this clean? Another reason I went with a less pricey bag. Dust bags are something I have and I had a few left over, so I store it as to not get any of my hot cocoa mix, godiva chocolate or anything else messy on the outside of the bag. Not that I throw caution to the wind when it comes to neatness, but lets just say, I am no Martha Stewart.

The skirt was purchased at Target, where  I sometimes come  across a stand out print, or collection I really like. This skirt is years old, but I wanted to make it a classic look. Add a black Ann Taylor cardigan and Viola! there we are. Now, if  I stopped there, it would be “nice”.. Ahhh, why is that such a bad word, you know? Men don’t want to always be the “nice” guy or maybe I have been watching too much tv. Well, there is that twist or additional quality one needs to make an outfit or something standout, taking something from “nice” to “surprise” or ‘wow” ( at least I hope so).

That is, in this case, the outfit is rather lady-like, pearls-classic cream and black, textured bag. There is a great quilted pattern on it, I will have to get a better shot of.  I needed to add some color or one could add a mixing print with a shoe perhaps. I chose one of my Christmas gifts this year, as I like the combination of classic colors with a rich shade such as this maroon faux leather moto jacket by Ann Taylor. The jacket is thick, very well made, as the industry is making some of the faux-leather these days, almost feels real. Kudos to Ann.

So, perhaps take the lady like outfit, the classic pairing and add some “bad girl” to it! Just like the nice guy with a twist! The nice guy who just so happens to have you ride his Harley on the weekend!

Wanted to let you all know, I am going to try my hand at hosting a Link Up Party. It will be on March 17th, Tuesday at 7AM EST. I hope you will join me and share your lovely fashions. I am calling it “Turning Heads Tuesday” Link up, and will have a button available if you choose to put it on your blog 🙂 thank you!!

Jess xo

p.s. it is a good idea to have an non designer bag too, the designs can be fabulous and wearing them keeps your more expensive bags in better shape..
