Mustard Satin Shift Dress for the Holidays

Satin is one of those trends that is popping up now. When you think of satin, what do you think of? I do think of it more for dressier occasions, which is why I am sharing this dress from Zara I bought about 3 -4 years ago.

My Look

Silver and Gold, Silver and Gold… You know the song by Burl Ives? I used to play it on my mom’s piano But, Over the Christmas Holiday, I love some sparkle in usually gold and I immediately thought of this satin mustard gold dress with my favorite vintage earrings. My Tapestry bag is also from Zara a few years ago, I liked the boxy shape and the vintage look. It adds a bit more color to the look and fits the style. I love textured tights, and you have seen these shoes several times now on the blog. I have black kitten heels, but I have wanted some block-heeled black pumps. I am waiting on these Marc Fisher ones and hope they fit! They are on sale now!

The dress is a shift dress that floats away from the body and works for all body shapes. You may remember the mustard dress I wore for the summer, and how much I do love this color with my complexion and hair. And let’s face it, if it isn’t sunny outside, I’ll bring the sunshine in!

Weekend

How was your weekend? My hubby and I went with my sister and niece to Christmas in Davidson. It is a local event each year with carriage rides, local businesses opening their doors, carolers, a Live Nativity, and other Christmas entertainment. My students and I would perform there ‘on the Green” each year when I taught Music at Woodland School. I have such great memories of the students singing carols with my direction  It was so busy and we had a great time! I do enjoy spending time with family and my niece and I share a special little bond.

I love attending Christmas events in Charlotte, as it really gets me in the mood for the Holiday. Sunday we put ornaments on our tree, realizing we need a bigger tree from the ornament collection we have created over the years. I still have Mrs. Jannenga ornaments from the kids I taught years ago. We strung lights on our outside tree and I finished wrapping gifts.

I love the collar and the back portion of this dress. The sleeves also have 2 large gold buttons to dress up the look.

My dress is about 3-4 years old from Zara, but this dress is available on Nordstrom if you want a mustard satin dress in a midi style. Under $50!

This is a beautiful look. You are so right in adding the printed bag and those hose! We have way too many ornaments, too, although I only unpacked one box of them this year.

Jess, this dress is freaking amazing! I love the satin and the shade of shiny yellow. I wish I could wear this color because I would be chasing this dress if I could! Absolutely gorgeous, my friend. And how cool are those tights! I am so glad that you got to spend time with your sister. I have been home from my sister’s for over a week now and I miss her terribly. Boo.

Thank you Shelbee! I don’t wear it often as it is dressier , but I figured it was perfect for the Holidays. Yes, we had a great time on Thanksgiving and are spending more time together since we both live in Charlotte.

Stunning Jess and so festive! I love this satin number on you and that tapestry bag is so pretty! Your weekend sounds like fun! The Christmas event sounds like it came straight out of a Hallmark movie, what could be better? How sweet that you still have all those ornaments from students, isn’t that the best? You were obviously so loved by them!

Thanks friend! It was a good time at Christmas in Davidson, we missed the carriage ride, but next year! Yes, we have an abundance of ornaments, but I love it.
