“Atten-Hut”! Neutral Shades+ Tips On Styling The Military Jacket

IMG_7380

Hello Ladies and Happy Monday ( once Ive had my coffee)..

Repeat after Me!

I like neutrals yes indeed! ( I like neutrals yes indeed)

Military jackets…just not in tweed (repeat)   ..   ( its too hot! :-)) just go with it!

Like to know just how to style ( repeat)

Read ahead ..might take awhile..

Sound off.. 1..2..

Ha, Ok. I never said I do not possess a goofy sense of humour! Hey, I sing and talk to my dogs every day, right?

I thought today I would change it up, as I like to do from time to time. Recently, I have worn stripes HERE,  this look, and more jeans. I know I have a feminine style, but there are days where I want to “dress down” but look put together and have fun with fashion wearing something different. I have had this military jacket from LOFT for years and haven’t worn it much. I just decided, why not? I love the raw edges and the brass buttons, as well as the shape commanding a more feminine feel, not a boxy look.

My cargo pants in a complimentary shade are probably some of the most comfortable I own. I am one to buy something I like in more than one color, so I have these pants in 3 different shades. Continuing with the neutral look I added my cognac leather bag by Rebecca Minkoff, and my JORD watch in maple. The earrings are bronze from Sylca Designs one of my favorite Mother/Daughter shops with original and eco-friendly jewelry. The fringe wedges add some fun to the look and I loved the style. I had to add a bit of “Jess’ style” with my vintage gold brooch from the 1950s.

Here are some tips on wearing a military jacket:

Wear a Military Jacket with:

  • White jeans or as this is a fitted jacket a pair of white trousers would look great in proportion.
  • Mix it up and wear a military jacket with the unexpected, perhaps a floral skirt or over a floral dress for a mix of feminine/ masculine pieces.
  • Stripes are on trend this season. A striped midi dress combined with this military jacket would be a great trendy look this season.
  • Another trend this season is METALLICS, add a metallic sandal or slip on shoe to this look.
  • Additional color. If you are not one to wear all neutrals, add a pop of bright color to this look with your handbag or other accessories.

I have said this before, but I’m going to say it again…I love when you are dressed in your “Jess” style of flirty, feminine florals and sophisticated dresses and skirts. But you totally rock the casual look, too! So amazingly chic even dressed down! I love it. And it always inspires me!

What’s really nice is how you put a little of your feminine flair on the jacket with the brooch!!
And that’s totally the same kind of humor in my household!!
