Ponchos and Faux Leather Leggings- A Winning Wintery Combination

Hello friends

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Even Charlotte had snow. Usually I am easily amused, as the local weatherman predicts this will be the “Winter Storm of ’17” when 2 inches falls on the ground. Being a Pittsburgher, I would usually laugh, nod my head and think,  “THIS is the winter!” Well, it wasn’t the Winter Storm of ’17 this weekend, but it did snow as much as they predicted, 4-6 inches. It is always fun to see how the pups are going to react to snow, and Truffles did not disappoint! Truffles went out on the back deck, and just peed right there. No going into the yard , but just out and in. Gibson, was having fun frolicking around, typical boy! On to my outfit…

Today I wanted to wear my favorite poncho. I bought this thick, soft, colorblocked mustard, tan and brown sweater last year from Zara, and have only had the chance to wear it once. I have 2 ponchos in my winter wardrobe, and wondered when I put this on, why I don’t own more? They are easy to put on over an existing outfit for that extra layer, and make for a great look with skinny jeans, flares, or in this case, faux leather pants.

I love a monochrome look with ponchos too, an all black look with added color by adding a patterned or colorful poncho. Black trousers, turtleneck and boots become transformed with the addition of a poncho. Today I am wearing black faux leather leggings, my new ( Christmas present) tan suede booties from Mango, and black saddlebag that I have enjoyed carrying, from Rebecca Minkoff. Going out, I would wear this with another layer for warmth, either as a neutral look with my camel coat, or adding color with my Burgundy Banana Republic wrap coat.

Are you a fan of ponchos?

Outfit details: Poncho- Zara, ( last yr), faux leather pants, Mango suede booties, Rebecca Minkoff Vanity saddlebag , Brown leather gloves c/o Cornelia James

Hello, you are stunning. I am trying to update my wardrobe and would love to get a pair of faux leather leggings to have as a staple as I have seen them all over blogs (found yours through Lady of Style, where did you get them? I like how there is a tiny zipper on the inside. Approaching 50 soon and I don’t see how that should effect my style. That’s what Teenagers are for!! ; – )

Hi Carol, Sorry I am just getting back to you, I was sick yesterday. I bought the leather leggings at Zara, an online store. They were from last season. I have another pair from Zara that I purchased on Poshmark, a discount on-line thrift type store. Put in Zara in the parameters and you can search for leather leggings in your size. Let me know if you need more help. thx!

Jess, you look fabulous (is there anything that you don’t look good in?) The colors and the pattern are very flattering on you. I adore the look of ponchos but I fear that I will be too warm and I prefer the versatility of a cardigan. Nevertheless, thank you for sharing your style inspirations on my Fine-Whatever link up.

Rena, that is very sweet of you. Of course, there are things that don’t look great, it has taken me to reach 40 to find what seems to suit me best 🙂 I like cardigans as well, and truly get to wear this about twice in the winter as it is quite warm, and Charlotte doesn’t get that cold! xx

I absolutely love your poncho Jess! Too bad it’s from last year or I’d be hot-footing it down to Zara to get one! I had never owned a poncho until I went to the 3040 blogger meet up last year where we all given one by Hope Fashion, and then I won another in the raffle…which is pure cashmere! Thank you for joining in my first link up 🙂

The poncho looks wonderful on you! I’ve tried them on and feel like it didn’t work for me though. I’m not sure why! I love yours!

Hi Elle, thank you! I do love this poncho that I bought a few years ago, very thick and warm. I think I dont have many as I am in the South, but can get wear out of them in Jan and feb. Yes, we got about 4 inches or so. Aw, thank you about my legs. Have a good day! I’ll pop over this week, I have a medical procedure tomorrow.x

I do love ponchos, but I’m like you—I don’t have many. I think one reason, is I always wonder how to wear a coat over top! I need to just realize that they are the top layer maybe?
You should get a video of the pups in the snow—I bet it’s so fun!!
