THT- Linen Trousers to Keep You Cool in the Summer Heat

Wear those linen trousers to keep you cool in the summer heat.  Linen is such a staple in the Summer, especially if you live in the South.

Linen- Does it Keep You Cool?

Linen Trousers to keep you cool. Do they?

I used to have a love hate relationship with linen. Well, mostly hate. I hated the creases and crinkles that would appear when I got out of the car, or just ironed it only to show the wrinkles shortly thereafter.

Now that I am older and wiser ;_) I really love linen. When you live in a warm climate like the South, your desire to stay cool in the summer supersedes those creases!

I have,  for the past several years been adding to my linen pieces in my closet.

Linen has such cooling and wicking properties . It has a looser weave which allows moisture to escape the body and air to pass through easily.

Cotton is also a great fabric for summer, but linen has better cooling properties  because of the loosely woven fabric and the fact that it does not stick to the body.

If you sweat a lot, this is good news, as linen   “It can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture before starting to feel wet” .

So, taking this into consideration, I came across these trousers on H&M. I was set to buy 2 colors, but they were gone in the bat of an eye. This darker tan is a lovely neutral and is more of a casual look. Often linen pants have a drawstring waist, and I prefer more of a trouser style. The drawstring waist will lend itself to even more of a casual look. I am linking several options for you below. I will wear these with slides as well, for a more casual look this summer.

I kept it minimal with a gold link chain necklace, and some new olive drop earrings. The brown rattan clutch and belt added some texture as well. The white tank was one of 5 I purchased in different colors from Target. Gotta have those basics!

Linen is quite popular now, with many retailers having a separate section of their linen collection. See Mango, See H&M .

Life Lately

Hope you all have been enjoying the sunshine!

Because we have flexible schedules ( hubby is in IT), we are able to go out to the Lake and paddleboard/kayak on week days. We went last Thursday and the water was as smooth as glass! The last few times it was choppy with alot of wake produced by numerous boats. ( what you expect on the weekend). Had a great time though, I love the peacefulness and stillness while getting great exercise. We did come around a bend, and to my surprise, a Heron let out a huge SCREECH and out of surprise, I thought I might be knocked off my paddleboard. I held steadfast! 🙂

We also heard a wonderful Grammy nominated jazz guitarist at Daveste Vineyards, and enjoyed a beautiful day.

My mom is coming this week, and my brother and family next week, we have many things planned!

I shared this yesterday, but in case you missed it…

Maybe you don’t want to see my feet close up, but I had to show you this cool pedicure I got over the weekend. It called “Cat eye orange” and there is a technique used to create the design. I usually play it kind of safe with neutrals or pinks, but wanted something bright! This has a metallic sheen too.

Tell me are you a linen fan? How do you keep cool in the hot summer months ( fashion -wise)? Let me know in the comments!

Fabulous summer look! I love your nail polish and I’m very envious of your lovely straight toes! Herons make such an alarming noise don’t they? I remember one flying out of some long reeds when I was riding my pony as a child – he got spooked and I almost fell off!

Funny how we both were talking about linen in some form today. It really is the way to go in the summers.
Your week sounds wonderful and I’m glad the heron didn’t scare you enough to fall off.

Jess, you wear this elegant and yet easy outfit very well. And to answer your question, I’ve been adding more linen and linen blend items to my wardrobe as well. I’m not sure that I go head-to-toe with it but it’s not hard to work in a piece to summerize a look.

A very elegant look, Jess! You are making me curious about linen. It’s nice you’re getting time on the paddle board. Now if the herons would just mind their manners. 🤣

I absolutely love linen trousers but bought a new linen dress this summer and really can’t get on with it! It just doesn’t flow with my body the way a pair of scrunched up linen pants do!! You look great in these neutrals Jess, enjoy your family time.

you always wear neutrals so well, and those linen pants are perfect on you! 🙂 I like linen but tend to stick to printed pieces to hide the wrinkles, or go with linen blends, haha!

Thanks for the link up! Hope your week is going well. It’s a really cold, wintery one here!

I ordered yesterday a linen blouse. My first linen item since decades. I used to hate it too, but it wears very good when it’s warm. I’m sure you will wear those trousers a lot.
