Turning Heads #linkup- Pantone’s Color Institute Colors 2016-Rose Quartz/Serenity

Hello Ladies

Happy #turningheadstuesday! This is the first time the Pantone Color Instititue has named 2 Colors of the Year-2016  Rose Quartz and Serenity. As a blogger you may be already familiar with this, and I am pleased to say I have some clothes currently in my closet for spring in these colors. This post was taken on the weekend as we have some rainy days this week and we don’t quite have the lighting yet for indoor posts.

“Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.”

I am wearing today a rose colored chiffon cardigan, one of my favorite in my closet as it pairs with many colors. If you read more about the Spring 2016 colors, you will see that these two colors compliment many others. My boots, for example, are a taupe color, which I have been looking for for months, as there were always great boots with high heels I couldn’t wear, but I found these at Sole Society. The Pantone color “Simply Taupe” goes quite well as does the added scarf in Pantone’s “Opal Grey”.  I truly love these pastel shades complimented by soft neutrals, as I have paired in today’s look. The other thing that caught my eye, years ago when I bought this cardigan was the textured look, the roses are in chiffon and look as though perhaps they just bloomed.

I am wearing a rose gold watch my husband bought for our Anniversary years ago,and the new Rebecca Minkoff bag in Fog, or light grey was a gift from my mother/dad at Christmas. Hubby didn’t know they bought the same bag in different colors! I am really fine with it!

I had searched and searched for the tall taupe boots, as it can be difficult to find a pair I am in love with that doesn’t have a 3 inch heel. Months later, I found these on sale at Sole Society. One of my favorite things about fall/winter is boots, and I have been a bit boot obsessed this year, although I think I say this every year. I love details as you know, whether it is a vintage necklace or brooch, quilt on a bag, or in this case small buttons on these long dark grey or what Pantone likes to call , “Volcanic Glass”, elegant gloves.
I also wanted to share my Rose Quartz Vintage inspired winter coat. I have an abundance of coat ( 4 which is an abundance in North Carolina) ha! and when I saw this on another blogger, I knew it must be a part of this small collection. The Peter Pan type collar, large buttons and pink shade was what I wanted to brighten up some of these dull winter “Silver Grey” days. I will share with you in later months, the Serenity as I have a few pieces in my closet that will work well in the springtime.
According to  the Pantone Institute on the two  colors for Spring 2016 , “Whether in soft or hard surface material, the pairing of Rose Quartz and Serenity brings calm and relaxation. Appealing in all finishes, matte, metallic and glossy, the engaging combo joins easily with other mid-tones including greens and purples, rich browns, and all shades of yellow and pink. Add in silver or hot brights for more splash and sparkle.”

Outfit details: Coat: Boden, Taupe Boots: Sole Society, Rose Gold Watch:( gift from hubby,      ), Skirt Zara ( last yr) Sweater ( old Loft), Gloves: vintage boutique , Handbag: Designer Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody in Fog. Infinity faux fur scarf: target

Most Clicked  :Gaby from Stylish Salat has such a great way of mixing neutrals and the scarf is one of my favorite prints!

PINTEREST PIN OF THE WEEK: Kelsey of Glistening Ambition caught my eye as I am going to have to borrow the white jean and neutral look… of course I love the fur!

Jess, pink is one of your colors! You look fantastic. Thanks for the opportunity to link-up! Now I can’t get Aerosmith out of my head, “Pink is my favorite color”. If I have to have a song in my head, it might as well be by Aerosmith. Haha

I love these colors on you as much as I hate them on me LOL!
These are not easy colors to wear. You have that beautiful red hair that adds a bright pop to your complexion, so you can pull them off. I think most 40+ women are going to have a tough time making these work. I’m not even going to try 🙂

These are your colours, for sure, and perfect for the romantic look you often wear. You look radiant! Love the retro coat! On you, that is. These are not my colours. Yes, one woman’s ethereal, feminine shade is another woman’s ‘drained, sickly look’. Sigh.
