Turning Heads Linkup-Trending Now: Velvet. I Am Not New to this Trend

img_9925

Hello friends! Hope you had a great weekend. I did early voting, so if you can, get out and vote.  Hard to believe we are already in November and the Christmas commercials are playing on TV, all of the Holiday stockings and gift wrap etc, has been in stores for a bit now, and I start thinking about my holiday list for Gifts.  Happy that I was able to pick up a couple in New Mexico, and will also be giving more “framed gifts” this year for family as well. I am already thinking of the “family portrait” with the pups in their Santa Suits. In addition to today’s velvet look, you can view other posts with me wearing velvet  HERE and HERE.

img_9920

Would it be a surprise that I love velvet?  Always have. I can remember a dress I had when I was little that I would wear to church on Sundays. The comfort of the fabric, the rich colors, have always appealed to me. With this look, I wanted to bring a mix, again, of other fall shades that one could easily pair together. The teal velvet blazer has been in my closet for years. One of my favorite combinations or fall “uniforms” I enjoy wearing is a great blazer + Mini Skirt  ( in this case pea green tweed), and Over the Knee boots ( these are Vince Camuto in brown leather).

img_9917

I love a mini skirt with Over the Knee boots. Just a great proportion to wear in the fall and winter. I have been seeing OTK boots throughout the blogosphere and thought it was about time to bring them out.  You will be seeing various velvet blazers from my closet as I have developed a collection of jackets and blazers over the years and am “shopping my closet” for the next several months in order to spend on others for the Holidays.

img_9934

I also want to share with you the beautiful necklace hubby bought me in Santa Fe. I do enjoying picking jewelry when I visit a place, as I know it is going to be something I love and will have memories of the place visited. This stone, a large opal, with aqua, light blue and darker blue throughout, really has a stunning glow when it is in the light. It was such an elegant shape and unique piece, I knew that would be my choice.

img_9913

I am loving velvet shoes or boots as well this season, and I may just have to see about a pair. I think what I have always loved about Fall clothes is that there is so much versatility in dressing with all of the different fabrics, textures and colors. Very appealing to the eye!

Oh Jess, I am such a sucker for velvet, too! I have a wine colored velvet blazer that I thrifted years ago that is completely on trend right now and makes its appearance every fall and winter. I love to dress it up or down which works with the lush velvet. These greens and browns colors are so fabulous on you. And I am swooning over your stunning opal necklace! What a great pick for a souvenir. Thanks for linking up with me On the Edge!

And that fabulous purse is perfect with this outfit! See—-you knew that it’d go with so much!
I used to have 2 velvet jackets, but I gave them away because they didn’t fit anymore. I thought I didn’t have any velvet in my closet at this time, but I just found an old black blazer that used to be my mom’s! I’ll have to wear it soon!
I love the mixture of textures and colors you have going on in this outfit! Just gorgeous, Jess!
