Polka Dots Are Everywhere and a Classic Combinaton

Hi friends,

There has been a lot going on in the land of the Elegantly Dressed and Stylish. I have not been on the blog in about 6 months for varying reasons, but the truth is, I don’t feel like the audience craves reading posts anymore. Much has changed with social media since its inception, but many ladies have gone from blogging to writing long form on Instagram.

It also has to do with my health. We did have a recent fabulous trip to the Netherlands, my husband’s ancestry, but when I came back, symptoms of my Pudendal Neuralgia began to flare up. Without going into detail, let;s just say if I do write, I am considering Substack. It has been a more popular long form platform, and I am considering writing there about fashion and many other topics of interest

So for today, I write about this little “trend” called Polka dots! Is it new? Of course not, what goes around comes around. I look at Polka Dots like stripes. Its a classic pattern that isn’t going to go away. Everything from dresses to skirts, jumpsuits to swimsuits can be seen now in dotted fashion.

Here I continue my thrifting ways, with a Zara slip dress in black and white polka dots. I found this dress for a mere $20 on Poshmark. Fits like a charm, and I prefer to wear it with a blazer, jacket or sweater on top, giving the look of a skirt. I styled it here with my newly gifted Teddy Blake bag, for that classic combination of black, red and white. The pop of red with the luscious croc print bag, with its simplicity, perfect size, elegant structure, adds just the right amount of color. The Lola bag is a gorgeous bag! I received the 10″ as I like the more petite size with my frame and no longer want to dig into the bottom of my bags. Teddy Blake bags are made in Italy with Italian leather and the craftsmanship is great. I have a few of these bags, so I can attest to that. They have a wide variety of styles and you can check their website as well as Nordstrom. The Lola bag is versatile and comes with a strap to be worn as a crossbody as well.

Ive dressed it up with a blazer that was designed for me, fit is impeccable and the adjustable belt adds that special detail. Strappy Zara sandals say “It’s almost Summer”, and jewelry is kept to a minimum with my “Truffles necklace” ( my lil baby girl shih tzu that passed a few years ago) and my Monica Vinader hoops.

Just shows you the classics never go out of style. Polka dots are about as groundbreaking as florals, am I right?

I’m sorry you haven’t been well since your return, Jess! I hope the pain eases quickly.
I love polka dots, it’s funny how they come in and out of fashion all the time!
As for blogging—things really are changing, aren’t they? For the time being, I want to continue with it. It would be a shame to stop after so many years!
    Big hugs
    Suzy xx

Nice to hear from you again! I’m still blogging but have considered Substack too. With so many platforms now, it’s hard to keep up! Can you believe I don’t own any polka dots? I’ll have to look out for something while it’s trending. Xo Nipa

I love polka dots and black and white with red! This outfit is definitely a winner! I have been considering Substack, but my son says he’s building me a new site. I hate to see the long form blog going away as I came to it late. I really love reading blogs and start my day reading them. I invite you to join me at Fashion Files, the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot, and others for link parties!

What a nice surprise to get an email from you again. I’m sorry your health isn’t great but knowing you, you will work to get it back to fabulous again.
I am such a fan of polka dots and love that they are having a heyday again,
    XOXO

It was so nice to see your blog in my email this morning. You’re right it seems people aren’t blogging much any more. I still post once a week but it’s more for me than anyone else. I still love the art of picture taking and playing in my closet. But have a lot less interest than I used to..
I love this look on you! I also love Poshmark. I have gotten so many nice things there.
I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. I hope you take care of yourself and feel better soon. It was nice to see you! Cheryl Tucker
