20th Anniversary- What I Am Wearing Out to Dinner

Coming back from the beach and seeing the sun and sea, I was inspired by the ocean for this week’s looks. Although this was not the dress I wore for beach photos, I decided to wear it for our Anniversary dinner.

My newly painted toes in teal done at the REEDS spa in Avalon. Read about it here.

My Outfit

This ruched jersey dress was one I spotted on Poshmark ( Ann Taylor) and it was one of the dresses I considered taking for our whole family professional photoshoot on the beach. My brother, who worked as a Buyer for Macy’s in New York is in Men’s Fashion, thought of the color scheme. We would wear the colors turquoise ( or varying shades of) and coral. I chose to go with blues as I have been wanting to add some more blue shades to my wardrobe.

After some decision making, I decided to go with the dress I will be sharing tomorrow . It is a bit more casual, and beachy.

This rich blue hue is a tealish blue, I’ve always loved as jewel tones work well with my complexion and hair.

I wanted to keep this look fairly simple, and wore my vintage beaded earrings ( from a Charleston shop) a blue-green metal cuff, and my Chinese Laundry sandals. The crinkled leather handbag gave me choppy ocean water vibes .

Since this was bought on Poshmark, I don’t have the dress to link to. I do, however, have a similar style, by Leith, that has been popular each year on Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack that I will link below.

What is great about this style of dress is that you could wear a light kimono over it for that chill you get in a restaurant in summertime. You could also add a jean jacket and slip on sneakers to dress it more casually.

20th Year

well, we have known each other for about 22 years and time has gone by. There has been a lot that has happened in our life, and my illness has accounted for 10 of those years.  It is a benefit that I am functioning much better than I was those years ago.

Some of you may know we met in a Rock Climbing class. Actually we had joined an Outdoor’s Club in Pittsburgh, as I wanted to busy myself with the outdoors after breaking up from a long time college fiance. I knew I was in the right place as they talked of backpacking, hiking, snorkeling, and other outdoor affinities. Then, the Rock Climbing class and I was all in. I had always wanted to try it despite my fear of heights. My hubby became my climbing buddy as he would hold the rope down below and I trusted him to belay me.

It is hard to believe it has been that many years. We moved to NC 18 years ago, and I love it here. The sun, the ability to be outside much of the year, and the people.

We ate very well on vacation, so we are holding off a few weeks for our Anniversary dinner. We will venture into Uptown and of course it will be seafood.

Happy Anniversary to you and Roy! What a beautiful story of how you met! I don’t think I knew that about you. And good for you taking up rock climbing to combat your fear of heights. You are stronger than I! I am much too afraid of heights to even consider such a thing. This teal dress is beautiful and perfect for an anniversary dinner. I can totally see it with a gorgeous kimono on top, too! It is the perfect dress for that. Thanks for linking!

      Hi Lindy
Thanks so much! My hubby mentioned about that place as well. I don’t like oysters but it seems they have other seafood, we will check it out. I do love to try new places.
      Enjoy the weekend!

Gorgeous! Teal is also a favorite of mine for the same reason, although my hair has faded a bit. So fun to hear how you and your husband met. Happy Anniversary!

Thanks so much. I added a few blue pieces to the closet just by looking for the beach dress. I appreciate the Anniversary wishes. can’t believe it has been that long.
