29 Jun 4th Of July Casual Look – Soft Surroundings Tee
Hello friends and Happy Monday!
I hope you enjoyed the weekend and that you had nice weather.
Im wearing a periwinkle blue top gifted to me by Soft Surroundings and styled it for the 4th of July.
Outfit and What’s Goin On
Boy, it is hard to believe it is the end of June. I wonder what has improved since early March, and do keep up here and there with the news a bit, only in print. I will read Maria’s Shriver’s “Sunday Morrning” and also the New York Times newsletter, “The Morning” a few days a week and excuse myself from the news on the TV. It really kind of sets the tone in the morning, and I am trying to help my mom in ways to create a less stressful environment. We talk about things, discussing them on the deck with our coffee in the morning, but are not overloaded as we once were.
We had a nice weekend, taking mom to one of the restaurants on the Lake, with tables far apart. We both enjoyed crab cakes, which they are noted for, but were surprised to not see masks on the waiters. North Carolina Gov Roy Cooper issued a mask order for last Friday. We enjoyed the atmosphere which felt a little strange, but also welcoming.
We also took a walk at a nearby Greenway. My Shih Tzu, Truffles was on full alert! She is an explorer and also one that looks out for the squirrels and bunnies. She missed a bunny by a few inches, and later made a squirrel do a backflip off a nearby bridge ( it wasn’t a far drop). But she was in full form, and my boy, Gibson backs her up. We were all laughing and enjoying the walk.
I wanted to wear a casual 4th of July outfit and will share another look tomorrow as well. I had a good time combining this new tee with dot details in this periwinkle blue with my Denizen white skinny jeans. They are soft and a bit lighter than my other pairs of white denim. The top is in my usual XS for Soft Surroundings and I did a half tuck for style.
The Uno Alla Volta glass necklace was gifted to me a few years ago and I enjoy taking it out for the holiday. I exchanged my Sam Edelman white stappy sandals for these Zara strappy sandals, as I liked the square toe and the strappier front a bit more. The heels are a comfortable 2.75 inches.
How will you dress for the 4th? Do you keep it casual?
Thank you to Soft Surroundings for gifting me this cornflower blue top. *c/o all opinions are mine and truthful.

Posted at 15:52h, 29 JuneYour look is so Comfy and Chic! Our usual dress-up for the 4th here is bathing suits. But, the beaches are closed again for the holiday so backyard shorts will have to do. Enjoy July Jess. . .

Posted at 16:52h, 29 JuneHi Neti! thank you! I bought a bathing suit for this summer, but i dont think i ll be wearing it, as there are too many people in the pool. Our vacation is postponed. So I know! Shorts it is ( and dresses) You too!

Posted at 15:16h, 29 JuneSuch a beautiful necklace Jess! Love the red, white and blue! It’s a great colour combo for a 4th of July outfit (or anytime for that matter) and a great flag of a great country! I have always had a dream to live in America and be an American, hopefully, a Snowbird someday. I’ll be wearing red and white (Canada’s colours) on Canada Day. ๐

Posted at 11:32h, 29 JuneHow nice to have dinner out with your mama. But I, like you, am surprised that the wait staff didn’t wear masks. We have to wear masks everywhere, here in El Paso. Of course, cases in Texas are taking off again.
Beautiful color in your Soft Surroundings tee. I like that it isn’t the traditional navy. But your accessories add that bit of tradition! That necklace design is perfect for the neckline of that top.

Posted at 11:06h, 13 JulyThank you! Yes, we are wearing masks and it is frustrating to see people not following rules. The necklace is one I take out each year.

Posted at 09:56h, 29 JuneThe t-shirt is adorable, I love it! I wish they had it in one of “my” colors. I know what you mean about news. I completely stay off FB and only listen to a couple of political podcasts.

Posted at 16:53h, 29 JuneThank you Kim! This blue would work on you or black ๐ I get the NY Times newsletter. ๐

Posted at 07:04h, 29 JuneIt’s gotten to the point where if I see someone without a mask it looks weird. Strange times. It’s probably a good idea to limit news, we just limit our exposure to others and keep doing our thing.
Periwinkle is so pretty on you my friend! Love the jewelry too!

Posted at 16:54h, 29 JuneYes, there have been places where I feel i am the only one wearing one! it is strange. I think you are doin it right too, we do the same, limit our exposure. Thanks! Glad you like the 4th of july look!

Posted at 02:52h, 29 JuneI love your necklace! Very pretty and unusual. And of course it ties in so well with your outfit. Blue and white always looks so fresh!
Like you, I never watch the news. I do have digital subscriptions to the Washington Post, and our local paper, The Las Vegas Review Journal, that I skim most days. When our governor started reopening on May 9th, it was demanded that all employees wear masks. Most were pretty good about it. However due to a spike in cases (because only some were taking precautions) wearing a mask outside your home. Only about 50% are so far. ๐๐๐๐

Posted at 16:56h, 29 JuneThank you Michelle! Got it gifted a few years ago from a company that sells pieces from all around the world.
Yes, I do the same, digital subscriptions, a few. Believe me, something has to change, right?
