A Bit of Spring with an Elevated Casual Denim Look

A great outfit formula that works and makes me feel put together is this- denim, a button down and a blazer.

Wearing this Casual Denim Look for Spring

Are we all happy it’s March?! I am, as I am not a fan of the Winter months, and look forward to it being brighter and lighter longer outside. I also look forward to some Spring outfits.

I have gone a bit bonkers for cream/ivory lately. I purchased these strappy kitten heels at Zara, and the rest is from my closet. I will do a denim post sometime soon, talking about the popular denim cuts for 2024. I am wearing a “small flare” but to me it almost looks like a straight leg. I am wearing my usual size 4 in these and bought them at Old Navy. They have some stretch but also feel like a denim, not a legging. I do like a bit of stretch (1-2%) for comfort and softness. If you are long waisted, like me, high rise jeans are wonderful. They fit better in the waist and are comfortable. The exact style isn’t available, but here are similar styles- JEAN, JEAN.

The striped shirt is Banana Republic, thrifted last year,( here is a similar one) and the cream blazer from Nordstrom. I like the one button style and the shape, putting a jean look into a more elevated casual style. My neck scarf has blue, yellow and green hues in it and compliments the outfit as well as adding a bit more pizzazz! I love the print and the silk fabric. Here is a similar one.

My quilted bag added a bit of green ( sim bag) to the look as well. I am hoping to see a bit more greenery in my yard soon! Everything is quite bare.

What’s Goin’ On?

Well we certainly are getting the Spring showers! It has been raining here often and this week will rain Wednesday- Sunday. The last 2 weeks have been tough for health, as I had an Endoscope thinking I had stomach ulcers. Then a trip to the ER because of stomach and chest pain. Loads of tests and bloodwork, I ended up having Costochondritis, an inflammation of the cartilage around the rib cage. So, I have to just let it heal, could take a couple months.

So, in the meantime, we went out a bit during the weekend and I continue to love volunteering at the shelter. Tomorrow is hair day, so I look forward to that. It’s time for a “trim” and color/gloss. I could use a bit of pampering! ๐Ÿ™‚

My Dad used to love John Denver. So, this song along with several others I grew up listening to. Since I have been thinking of him lately, I thought to put these lyrics in my post. We can look forward to the brightness and warmer days!

Do you love wearing jeans with blazers?

All items are shopped from my closet, but I linked similar pieces in the post for you.

See You tomorrow for Turning Heads Tuesday!

Jess, you look lovely in this denim outfit! I think that scarf adds just the best pop of color! You look like you have very long legs. Do you have difficulty buying jeans? I am on the other end of the spectrum being short waisted with short legs. I do love Old Navy for jeans and agree that a little bit of stretch changes the feel of the jeans so much!

I grew up listening to John Denver, too. He made such beautiful music.

Thank you Marsha! I do have long legs and yes! I was thrilled when these were a good length as well as my ecru denim I just bought. Usually I am finding jeans too short!
Yes, I get in the mood for John Denver – a very peaceful and soft voice
