21 Aug A Few Staples to Add to Your Fall Closet
Hello ladies
I realize it isn’t quite Fall yet, and in Charlotte, here, Fall doesn’t really happen until about November. This is always about the time I get excited for Fall clothes anyway. I used to laugh when brands want you to show the newest items for Fall in September, when it can still be a roasty hot 90 degrees. Fall fashion is fun though right?
When we moved here from Pittsburgh, over 20 years ago, I had more Fall clothes and much less Spring/Summer attire. However, I have built up my closet over the years and paired it down as well. This year, I am looking for basics and a few fun trends to add. I patiently awaited the Nordstrom Sale, and created a “Wish List” but everything I was looking for, sold out. I did buy a new Winter coat but have to decide whether to keep it. It was on sale on Mango.
Here are some basics that you might consider for the Fall closet. Since my mom is with us now, I was telling her, she would benefit by a Capsule Wardrobe, with her casual lifestyle and eventual move here.
So, here are some great staples you might consider for your upcoming Fall wardrobe_
Turtleneck Tees for Layering
I do like the design of these turtleneck tees by Mango Outlet. They would be great to layer under cardigans, blazers and jacket.
A blazer is always a put together 3rd piece. I know, you are thinking: Where am I going? It’s just one of those piece you can wear out to a restaurant or if you are on a Zoom call. Not to mention, you will have it for future events. This faux leather blazer from Nordstrom is a sharp way to layer and look polished. I love a double breasted look.
A Plaid blazer or menswear look has been popular for a number of years This one, a double breasted blazer from H&M looks effortlessly cool! I bought several plaid jackets from them last year and am pleased with the quality.
Long duster cardigans are a great 3rd piece to add to your look. My mom is a casual dresser, and I mentioned how her tee shirts or graphic tees would look great with a pair of dark denim and a long cardigan such as this one from Nordstrom. You can wear them with anything from pants to dresses and denim.
A Pair of cute sneakers that are stylish and comfortable will amplify your look . I bought my hubby several pairs of Cole Haan Sneakers and these women’s sneakers have such cute details like the scalloping and leopard print.
For Fall, one staple is always a great bag. This bag, from Mango Outlet is a gorgeous shade of chocolate brown.
A staple you need for your closet is a great pair of denim. I love dark denim for Fall and ones with some stretch for comfort and movement.
These are ones I own by Wit and Wisdom. The jeans with Ab-solution waist bands are true to size. I like to have variety of styles of jeans in my wardrobe These are a bootcut.
What other staples will you add to your Fall closet? Are you doing less shopping for clothes because of Coronavirus?
Stay Safe and have a great weekend,
Jess xx

Posted at 02:11h, 11 OctoberBuying less because my fall/winter wardrobe is pretty stocked. I have bought a teal and a chocolate brown cashmere sweaters. Also a few pairs of leather gloves. I’ve bought a brown leather jacket and a faux fur chocolate/black mink. I’ll be slowing down now. I also just purchased a teal sweater jacket. I guess I’ve been purchasing all warn and cuddly things. I think this is because of being home on lockdown since February because I am so high risk. I’m hurting and desiring sweaters. It’s still too hot in Arizona. We won’t have cool sweater weather until Thanksgiving and sometimes not even then. Love your style, so me!

Posted at 14:20h, 23 AugustI think I will treat myself to a new fall bag and how I love the faux croc bag you have shared. Will check it out. That moto jacket is super cute. A little dressier. Can’t wait to wear my plaid blazers. Think I will fish them out from the depths of the closet in anticipation of fall. Which, in El Paso, doesn’t arrive until mid-October.

Posted at 12:03h, 21 AugustThanks Gwen! I am going to be buying less as I could just use some basics for Fall but have enough to work with. I know what you mean! I bought a new coat for winter and where will I be going?
