A Golden Maxi Dress for Summer

Morning!

Well, I hope you all enjoyed the weekend. Today I am wearing a gold maxi dress styled for summer with additional gold pieces and my straw clutch.  I love the color mustard and think I will be looking for some pieces for Fall of this color. Maxi dresses are easy to wear, easy to style.

Weekend

We had a great time at Raylen Vineyard’s Full Moon Festival over the weekend. This vineyard is one of our favorites to visit as it is an hour away and they are very dog friendly. And yes, they have a wide selection of tasty wines. NC can get stereotyped into having more of the sweet wines, aka Scuppernog, and Muscadine . I love dry red wines and they have several to choose from. Puppies enjoyed the day, as did my hubby, getting his oyster plate from the Oyster bar they have there. Good times!

We also got our passport pictures and applications in at a Charlotte location. I just hate that you can’t smile for your driver’s liscence of passport photo. I did for my driver’s liscense and got away with it. When i tried to smile my normal “fashion blogger’ smile, I was told not to smile  “that much”. So instead of not smiling, I smiled halfheartedly, kind of a 1/3 of a smile, which just ended up looking like I was scared or constipated. One of the other. Not the most flattering pic, but who will see? hehe. Anyhow, it will come in about 4 weeks, so at least we got that done.

Dress

I think I may own a total of 4 maxi dresses. Being 5 foot 9, you would think I would gravitate towards them. Well, I did with this particular dress as I loved the warm mustard color. I added my woven gold espadrilles by Franco Sarto  I decided to try something new and took one of my belts from another dress, made it into a neck scarf as I loved the green, yellow and orange in the silky material.

There’s nothing like the warm colors of the fiery summer sun to get you in a summertime mood! These are also great fall colors and you could transition this dress with a long cardigan, boots or booties for Fall.

Oh, Jess, Iove the mustard! Wish it loved me back like it does you! I had to laugh out loud about the passport pics… I think it was Erma Bombeck who said something to the effect: “The reason passport pictures are horrible is to reflect what you look like after a 10 hour trans-oceanic flight.”

Haha! Yes. Mine was kinda scary…glasses off and 1/3rd a smile! Ah well. I joke about it with the drivers liscence reasoning that I guess no one smiles if they are pulled over by the cops! Thank you! I’d like to find a sweater and jacket in this color for Fall!

Aw, thanks so much! I have tried to get my hair down to a science, as well as my makeup. I wear a microfiber turban to bed after my hair is washed, which helps to lessen dry time! Thank you! I am loving mustard and will look for some fall pieces in this color. xx

What a great trip to the winery! And what a great dress on you! One of my favorite maxis is from H&M too! I love the belt you are wearing with this dress and how creative to take a different belt and use it around your neck! You tied it so beautifully it looks like it was meant to be worn that way! It’s a nice change too from a necklace. Mustard is your color my friend! Perfect on you in summer and fall!
Beautiful way to start the week Jess!

Jess, I love how you turned your belt into a scarf, and how you tied it – so clever, and so effective 🙂
