A Valentine’s Day Look- Classic

IMG_6558

Hello ladies and Matt!

( I had to write this as my brother Matt mentioned he would like to comment on my blog, but that I always begin with “Hello Ladies”) so I have included my awesome brother in today’s introduction. 🙂

It is close to that time of year, the time of year that Hallmark and other card companies pull out all of the stops with cards large enough to serve as the place mat  one would need if going out for a Valentine’s Day dinner. I suppose a small card or gesture doesn’t cut it anymore? Well, I love the Papyrus cards. Very fond of the tactile creative images, so I usually go with those. I also like the “classic looking ” or look of a vintage valentine’s card.  Since I am mentioning classic looks, I thought I would dress today in a classic combination for Valentine’s Day, red, white and black. I have to add my signature “vintage touches”, such as this pearl and ruby vintage necklace that is a favorite piece in my jewelry collection, found on Etsy years ago. The red dangling earrings are more contemporary as I bought them at The Jewel Box, a local Boutique.

We celebrated Valentine’s Day a few years ago, at a wine bar with a fixed dinner menu, and as I am sure you know, the meal is always double or triple what one would normally pay. We have since then decided to have a lovely meal at home. Romantic dinners  are preferred at times at home, and I am just thrilled to have a delicious meal cooked for me! I am not a cook by any means, unless there is a microwave involved and maybe 4 ingredients( ok, I exaggerate) but my husband enjoys cooking, so I wouldn’t want to diminish his fun!

Today I am wearing a fitted rich red blazer from Forever 21, a dotted white blouse from Loft, and one of my favorite vintage inspired skirts from Ann Taylor I bought several years ago. My eyes fixated upon the skirt the moment I walked into Ann Taylor! It too, was love at first sight. I have mentioned my jewelry finds and my clutch is leather from GIGI New York, a purchase made on Poshmark.

To me, the most important thing is that I tell the people in my life that I love them, and I will be calling my mom later today.  We have a tight knit family and Valentine’s Day just means for me to let them know I love them. Of course, I will also smother my pups with kisses as they are very much loved as well!

I also wanted to thank you all for the wonderful comments I received Tuesday. Very touching, and it meant alot to me.

Tell me, What do you enjoy wearing on Valentine’s Day? How do you celebrate it?

So gorgeous, Jess, the look and the colour is just perfect for Valentine’s Day! It is only slowly rolling into Germany but not know as a tradition here. Since I am single I couldn’t celebrate it anyway 😉

YOU KNOW I LOVE RED. I also love red on red-heads. This is such a festive and elegant Valentine look. While all the clothes are great is is the accessories I am dying over: clutch, earrings, necklace, tights. I need one of those beautiful Gigi clutches.

Hope your Valentine day was awesome Ms. Jess. Welcome by. <3 Ada.

We opted for out on Valentine’s Day, which we hardly ever do. But was able to get a late reservation at one of our fav little bistros in town. So it wasn’t too crazy, as most people were finishing up when we arrived. It’s the only way I would ever attempt to eat out on one of the busiest restaurant days of the year. It turned out to be a fun night, but had to sleep in this morning!

Your outfit is stunning. I love a red and black combo. I can see why you couldn’t resist that lace skirt! And the lacy design of that vintage style necklace complements it nicely.

Such a beautiful and classy look Jess ! And I am having major hair envy here, since I went to my hairdresser for a small trim but also a tad little bit makes my hair look so shorter than it was…I wish I hadn’t trimmed at all ! Kisses my friend and I joined your linkup even if I was late, LOL

Your Valentine’s Day outfit is very chic and stylish…I love the red jacket, and your necklace is so pretty, it reminds me of Tudor style jewellery I’ve seen in portraits. I agree with you about staying in, restaurants are so busy and over priced on Valentine’s Day. It’s too cold here in the UK to venture out anyway!

I am new to your blog and so glad to have found you! First – I am so sorry for your loss. I am from Pittsburgh as well (currently living in Ohio) and my father was a Steelers fan as well. I, too, honored him at his funeral wearing black and gold. He would have smiled.

Your style is so lovely and I draw inspiration from your posts! Keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Love the skirt and a great Valentine’s outfit! We began a tradition many years ago of taking our 15 passenger van out to pick up a to go order, and eat in the back of our van in a quiet parking lot. I refuse to eat at a restaurant and the chaos of it all. We had 4 children at home, so it worked well. We’ve now added a dinner at Ruth Chris the following week, so I can dress up. I feel spoiled with two celebrations.

This is a gorgeous feminine and classic look, Jess! Holidays without a dear one that’s gone, are hard. I love your idea of a quiet dinner at home (us too), and lots of pet-love. xox
