10 Jul Barrel Jeans and a Fitted Top- Balanced Proportions
Still wearing barrel jeans? Well, I would be if I was in air conditioning, or it cooled down to about 70 degrees here.
I thought, however, I would provide you with some fashion inspo, and how to style them if you choose to wear this or a version of this.

I have styled barrel jeans before on several reels
and HERE

Here I took my asymmetrical blouse from Eva Franco and styled it with the cropped version of my barrel jeans. I bought these for a steal of $20 at Old Navy. The bowed shape of the jeans and added leg volume make way for a slimmer or more fitted top. Usually a stylist trick, the proportions work with this in mind. If you have a voluminous bottom, you want the top to be fitted or at least tucked in. Bodysuits work well to streamline the look, but since I am tall, and long waisted, bodysuits don’t work for me, wedgie!
My jeans are a bit cropped, and I like that they show an ankle boot quite well, or a statement shoe. If you are on the shorter side, I would advise getting a petite if 5 foot 4 or under to get the full length version. Are we daydreaming about boots yet?
Here is a look I styled with a full length pair of grey-black barrel jeans last winter.
I hope those of you that live in the States had a great 4th of July. Our Independance and Country certainly need the unity and strength right now. We kept it pretty low key, as my sister and mom are visiting my brother in Madison, NJ. He has a new place with his family, and commutes into New York. We will visit at Christmas time. So, we heard the fireworks, and usually don’t go to them as dogs are not fans. Danny seems to be fine with them, as does Gibson. We just learned that about Danny! So, we had a lovely celebration with cooking out smoked salmon this year, potato salad, delicious squashes, and some holiday cookies for desert. Sunday was a paddling day, with my husbby kayaking, and me on my paddleboard. We thought we would have to beat the storm, but it passed us by and we were able to be on the water longer.

So, this style tip is when you have a more voluminous bottom, then you style with a sleeker top, and the reverse is true as well. With the barrel jeans, we want to even out the proportions, so I chose this more fitted top with the barrel jeans. What I liked was that these jeans were not overly exaggerated in the barrel shape.
Tell me, have you styled barrel jeans, and how do you balance the proportions?
Have a great weekend

Posted at 15:45h, 10 JulyI have those same jeans and love them! I’m only 5’1” and got the regular length so they must run short as my ankles show. I love this top with them, Jess! It’s the perfect juxtaposition! We had a low key Fourth as we usually do. Jack is scared to death of the fireworks so we were inside early.
