16 Aug Combining Black and Brown in an Outfit
Brown and Black together? Oh my! Isn’t that against the “Rules”? I am showing you ways today how you can incorporate these two colors together.
Wearing Black and Brown Together
Leopard print.
It’s one of those prints you either love or don’t. It’s also one of those prints that has brown and black in the print itself. It was meant to be!
I am wearing another animal print in todays outfit, snakeskin. This scarf has black and browns in it as well.
This is one way you can start experimenting with this combination, trying accessories. Maybe you want to add a scarf or a statement necklace with these colors mixed in.
I started with the print of my scarf and then added in the black textured tank witih wide cropped jeans. I chose shades of brown in a croc texture for my square toed sandals and my leather clutch.
I like to add warmer tones to the black so the look is warmer toward my face. My color palette is made of more of warm than cool tones, so this combination works well .
All neutral looks are quite chic, and all of these shades act as neutrals. In the Fall, I may add a moto jacket to this look in a caramel brown I have in my closet. Remember, there are many shades of brown. Just keep it neutral and don’t look to add a pop of color. The mix of these two shades, plus if you add a pattern, as done here, will be enough for the eye.
Think of camel brown and how smart that looks with black. Add a congac or dark brown bag and you have a wonderful look!
These pieces are all older from my closet, with the exception of the JJ Winters brown croc leather clutch. I bought it on Poshmark, for a fraction of the cost.
Happenings
I hope my readers out there are doing well and had a nice weekend!
Thank you for reaching out with the well wishes. I finished my antibiotics and had started to feel a bit better on Sunday. I will go for my endoscopy Thursday and see what is causing the problem. My health can certainly test me at times!
An example of a Fall look with browns and black.
Do you wear this combination or do you find it hard to style?
I’d love to hear from you in the comments.

Posted at 15:56h, 16 AugustBrown comes in such a wide variety shades that a hard and fast rule about not pairing brown and black is ridiculous. I love the warm medium shades you’ve paired with black. Glad you are feeling a bit better.

Posted at 05:05h, 16 AugustIsn’t it funny that the old rule about wearing black and brown together even existed? I mean loo at leopard print? Thank goodness, we’ve evolved – ha! This outfit looks great on you, I love that denim. Hope our endoscopy on Thursday give you some answers. Praying for you, friend!

Posted at 09:30h, 16 AugustHi Rena,
It has been a long 3 weeks of not doing well, but I am finally making strides and will find out on Thursday something from the Endo. Thank you! Yes, these neutrals work well together and can be brought out with accessories with a print! 🙂
