Denim Picks for the Next Season

Jeans. Skinnies, in or out? What say you?

The pandemic enabled us to get into our loungewear and work from home, but do we want the same baggier, loose fitting style in our jeans? I am sharing some of my denim picks for the upcoming Fall season in this post.

I personally have all styles of jeans-  wide leg, cropped, white denim, coated, flares, bootcut, boyfriend and skinnies.

I may reach for some more than others, but a great fit and soft and stretchy fabric, hopefully soft make for jeans I want to wear.

No one wants to feel like a stuffed sausage.

I am not into painted on looks, nor do I want to lay on my bed trying to zip a pair.

So, some good rules of thumb are-

Try on different styles. You won’t know if a trendy style looks good on your figure until you try it on.

Take measurements of your favorite pair of jeans if you are looking for second hand denim. Compare.

I am one to like high waisted as they give the appearance of longer legs and if you have a small waist they are great! ( no gap)

There will be one type I won’t recommend and that is acid wash jeans. No offense if you like them, but they need to stay in the 90s!

As we look toward the Fall, we can look at our closets and see what makes the cut and what doesn’t, denim included.

If you are looking to upgrade or find THAT pair, read some of my picks for the perfect pant.

Denim Picks

AG

I just started wearing AG jeans a few years ago, after trying a pair out I bought secondhand on Poshmark. I personally love a dark denim jean as they are easy to dress up. Softness is also a preference of mine, so you might look for lyocell or Tencell in the label. Elastane gives it stretch, and stretch jeans are more often softer than rigid or 100% cotton denim

AG denim is well constructed and worth it for premium denim. Many of the styles are very soft and comfortable.

This pair is one popular style this days, with a slightly slouchy look to it.

I have the Prima and the Tomboy styles bought on Poshmark( straight leg).

These are the Tomboy straight leg.

Wit and Wisdom

I did buy a pair of Wit and Wisdom jeans from the Nordstrom sale, but alas, they were too short. This is a bit of a complaint I have read with anyone over 5 foot 7 wearing the jeans, unless they are cropped. I did love the side slit and the high waist, and they are soft and comfortable.

I do recommend this brand, as the price point is reasonable, and they have Ab- Solution, power mesh panels to mold, shape.

I have several pairs of this brand from last year and the inseam was just long enough. Many of them are now less than 30″.

They have added more cuts and washes this year and can be your day to day jeans.

The Itty Bitty Bootcut is one of the most popular cuts from Wit and Wisdom, a slight boot cut and slim leg, they are a great style.

I tend to follow the sizing notes on Nordstrom for most denim. Wit and Wisdom can run a little large, so if between sizes, size down.

These wide leg crops are some of my favorite pairs.  Unfortunately, they don’t make them this year. If looking for these you may want to try Ebay.

NYDJ

I know a lot of ladies love this brand, and I find they carry some great styles along with some slimming technology.

The Marilyn is one most popular style in a straight leg jean. It is a nice change of pace from skinnies and will be great in the Fall to wear with boots.

I personally have their Alina coated jeans in black, gifted to me last year. You can choose, like Wit and Wisdom to size down one ( they say to, in order to find the “perfect size” ) but comfort and fit are key, so many ladies order their same size as well. It depends on your fit preference.

I personally would like to try the Ami Skinny Jeans.

Old Navy

These jeans are not premium denim, but they are made fairly well and hold their shape. I love the Rockstar Skinny jeans.

and the price is nice! 🙂

Mott and Bow

I have 2 pairs by Mott and Bow, a NY company who have premium denim at a more reasonable cost.

I have the dark wash Jane in a Midrise and Highrise.

The fit is wonderful, each pair list the material content and how much stretch ( some having power stretch!) and are a little generous in the waist. ( but not wear there is gapping or falling off)

Tell me what are your favorite denim brands for Fall? Have you tried any new brands lately?

Have a great weekend

Jess xx

Ooh lots of fabulous jeans, Jess! I am loving cropped flares right now so much and all the wide legged denim. But I am a huge denim addict and have about 100 pairs of jeans in different styles and colors. My fave premium denim is from Torrid but they start their sizing at 10 so they only work for plus sized women. Thanks for sharing your favorite brands and linking with me!

Haha I just bought a pair of acid wash jeans with holes in them. They are a little sloppy to wear out but I plan to wear them around the beach some next week. I like the tighter fit darker jeans with a little crop to show off cute shoes and sandals.
Example is the look you show here with the white ankle strap sandals. So cute!

I do like trying all the styles now although I still struggle with the straight leg jeans and mom jeans. Give me the wide cropped ones any day!!

My favorite jeans are a pair of DKNY, dark wash, bootcut that I bought at a thrift store for $4.99! They make my legs look a mile long and fit me like a glove.

Great round up Jess! I am loving the wide leg cropped right now because they’re cooler in the heat. But I do love Old Navy and Loft – I’m more of a skinny jeans girl in the cooler weather.
    Have a great weekend!
