Elegantly Dressed and Stylish Reader Survey Results

Hi friends!

Aren’t you glad its Friday! Last week I asked Readers to complete a ELegantly Dressed and Stylish reader survey and I want to thank you for doing so! I had a great response and I want to present you with the results today.

Oh, my! I am ready to get out of the house! Cabin fever is here! I’ve been couped up in the house this week as hubby has gone into his client’s work nearly all week. So, tonight we hit the town with my sister.

Without further adieux…

This is my first survey, and of course, after posting it, I thought of other questions to ask, but it is a learning process. I did learn something from it.

-In which country do you live?

Out of the people who responded, 75% were from the United States. The next highest was the UK, then Canada.

Age– The largest age group was age 55-64 at 40%

When I asked readers how they heard about me, the majority was from linky parties and from reading about me or the blog on another

blogger’s site.  Other readers found my blog by looking up fashion on search engines.

I will continue my linky party and enjoy visiting and sharing on other link-ups. I need to work on SEO in order for ladies to find my site easier

on Google.

The two places that were the most places where ladies shopped were opposite ends of the spectrum- Nordstrom and Thrift stores.

That did surprise me a bit, although I realize more ladies are thrifting these days. I do nearly all of my shopping on-line as it is physically

easier for me these days.  You can find some great things on Nordstrom, especially with their sales!

More and more ladies are looking to downsize their wardrobe or have a wardrobe they can wear and love. Sustainability is important and

some of the ladies expressed an interest in looking good with fewer clothes in their closet.

I do talk about thrifting on Poshmark, and recently bought a few makeup brushes via Ebay, I need to look on Ebay for clothes too,

82%! Yes, you read that correctly, enjoy reading about Fashion the most on the blog, with Midlife topics another area they enjoy on Fridays.

I was glad to hear that they like my ramblings of life after 50, as I talk about things going on in my world.

Well, that is a good thing! I love wearing and discussing fashion as well! I think this began in high school, although my mom did dress me in

some cute dresses when I was a tot!

What ladies want to see on the blog

Many of the ladies remarked they liked seeing the “How to Wear ” posts and want various ways to wear items in addition to showing how to wear something.

Midlife topics were the next popular posts, and don’t we want to know to live the best life we can at 50+?

Some ladies were interested in Pinterest posts, and I would like to show some Pinterest inspiration as well.  I may give this a go once a month if it is well received.

Videos?

Videos are a fair amount of work and I would have to learn how to edit and put together a video. I may consider this. It really was nearly

50/50 whether women wanted to see it or not.  It all comes down to how I am feeling whether videos are a possibility. Plus, do you really

want to see this mug in the morning? 🙂

Fashion Dilemmas?

Ladies want to look put together and dress stylishly. Many of the ladies expressed the desire to look fashionable but wear casual looks, due to retirement, lifestyle etc.

Some of the ladies expressed issues with finding clothing that fit. I need to talk about shape and what clothing may best fit different body types.

Ladies also expressed a need for styling clothes with a smaller wardrobe.

I don’t have a small wardrobe, but I do love what I have. It has taken some downsizing and donating clothing to get my closet to where I love choosing from it each day.  You don’t have to have a large wardrobe, just one you love!

This was very helpful and I may consider doing a survey once a year or so. Not only does it help my readers get the content they want, but it

helps me bring them the content and gives me a focus or direction.

And for those of you that loved seeing pictures of the pups, here you go! Here is me and my angels!

I had so many lovely comments about what people loved about the blog, and it does mean a lot to me that you enjoy it and gain valuable

information or inspiration by it.

Thank you again!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Jess xo

Hi! Thanks so much! Yes, it is my favorite coat, my pink Boden coat. I do thrift shopping and on-line shop. Even my thrift store, however is on-line-Poshmark.

Thanks for posting the results; I was curious! Nordstrom and thrift stores – interesting dichotomy. Like you, due to health issues, I often shop online, but I appreciate the thrift stores for the lower impact on the environment, which upon becoming aware of some industry practices, is of growing importance to me.

I adore the pic of you and your pups!

It was interesting Michelle. Yes, I dont go to stores, it is too exhausting. I agree with you though and was quite shocked at Amazon’s practices about returns. Thank you! I love this picture of us too!

Yes, me too! Fashion won big on what my readers enjoy the most, with midlife topics coming in second. Good info to know! You are much better at Instastories than I am. Anytime I do it , i seem to be at a wine bar!

Fun to read the results. I am one of those people who thrifts and love my $1 deals but I also shop Nordstrom and will spend $80 on a pair of shoes or something I really want. Everything in moderation and balance.

Good point and very smart! I do the same. I will shop online at the favorite stores, using coupon or promo codes. I have found quite a bit on Poshmark, where I thrift.
