Extended NYC Trip – It was Fate!

Morning!

Today, i thought I would share what happened when the good ole Nor’Easter hit NYC while we were there! I had an amazing time with JAMBU and the bloggers, and we had planned to fly back to Charlotte on Wednesday. Well, other plans were in store! We received a message about our flight being cancelled, booked flights, so we could only leave Friday, March 23rd, when the weather had settled. So.. yes, thank you to Jambu as they helped when we were stuck for a night at the hotel.

I would spend most of the windy, snowy day at the Viceroy by recovering from all of the walking, and activity from the 2 days prior. It actually worked out quite well. My husband and I walked a few doors down to the Wallgreens, where I could get socks and we could get some snacks. See, the thing is, I prepared for showing off my Jambu sandals and athleisure wedges… Did I bring socks or other heavy duty shoes? No. I also asked myself, will I be staying beyonf the Jambu event? My plane ticket home said, “No”. I had to leave on Wednesday so I could get by “looking like Spring”, with my pink moto jacket and my Jambu wedges.. Umm, boy, I could have used a winter coat!! The picture of me standing in Times Square shoes me invisioning sunshine and warm weather.. while the real Jess, had shaking knees…

It was great to have a larger bathroom in the hotel and be able to relax and take a bath during the snow storm!

I made due, but i did get some strange looks, either by walking in the snow with my naked toes on display while going to Walgreens. Later, the looks would continue with my white socks worn with my Naomi Jambu Sandals… I called it “Grandpa-Chic” ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Anyhow, how did it turn out to be fate? Well, my brother, whose wife had a baby 4 months ago, just moved from Jersey City to a house in Hoboken. We had wanted to meet for breakfast so I could see my new nephew Aedan, before i left for Charlotte., As it turned out, my brother Tim, would be able to pick us up , we could stay there for the night and spend the day with him and little baby boy. I was very happy to be able to see my brother and my new nephew! Such a sweet little baby, I read him a story and he was fascinated by my printed floral top. My brother made a delicious pasta dinner, and I enjoyed a few glasses of Bordeaux. It was a great visit!

Me having fun with Jack! My brother’s Pup. Yes, that’s my scarf!

Delicious bottle of Bordeaux we enjoyed!

It must have been meant to be that we stayed a few days later, as my hubby was able to get some wonderful pictures of Central Park, Manhattan, and spent the day with his dad ( who came in from Philly) enjoying the Gulliver’s Gate exhibit in NYC, Gulliver’s Gate, is minature sized models of cities around the world. The display is a permanent one, and is the size of a football field. Let’s just say, my hubby and his dad were there for quite a while!

Even with this delay, I found the most stressful part of the trip to be TSA and waiting in long lines that wouldn’t move with just 30 minutes until boarding! The actual flight was easy!

So, this trip, will be a memory for me of a wonderful experience I was afforded through blogging, as well as the first time I got to see my little nephew Aedan. It also marks a bit of a turning point for me, with my health, that I was able to walk the day in NYC , and even though I was pushing myself a bit, I was glad I did.

IF YOU DIDN’T GET A CHANCE TO READ ABOUT THE JAMBU-GOOD HOUSEKEEPING BLOGGER EVENT I ATTENDED, YOU CAN READ ABOUT IT at the post- Turning Heads Linkup – Jambu -GH Blogger Event in NYC.

Have a great weekend!

and think of the silver lining around the clouds.

Such a beautiful post, Jess! I’m so glad you got temporarily snowed in (welcome to our wintry world!) so all these other wonderful things could happen, although I was shivering just reading about you traipsing around in NYC with your poor toes exposed! What a great discovery that your health allowed you to manage the whole trip; not easy, but YOU DID IT!! So happy you got to spend time with family and meet your sweetie nephew. XOXOX

Thank you Kristin! The hotel was amazing, so it wasn’t bad being snowed in there, and yes, so glad that i got to see my nephew and brother for a longer period than anticipated.

Combining the peerless NYC with a fun family event sounds like the absolute best. Even the weather, while troublesome, made everything look even prettier! xox

Well if I’m ever stuck in a snow storm I hope I am in a beautiful hotel in NYC! Wow!!! I’ve been to that Walgreen’s in Times Square – thank goodness they had socks for you. They probably cost a small fortune there. I remember we went to buy water and couldn’t believe the price! Honestly how great too that you were able to visit your brother and his family and get baby snuggles and wine!!! Have the best weekend my friend!
