08 Feb February Is Heart Healthy Month and Go Red for Women
February is Heart Healthy month, and to recognize that we can combat heart disease by providing education, pro-active health awareness, and promoting wellness. I’ve dressed in red for the Go Red initiative for women, as well as Valentine’s Day around the corner.
Heart Health
Heart disease is one of the nation’s top diseases, so it is important to monitor your health and lifestyle. I have been checked for A-Fib, as it is in our family, and have strived this year to improve my health but exercising on a regular basis with cardiovascular exercise ( treadmill) and lifting weights. Our lifestyle changes can impact and help prevent heart disease.
There are warning signs, and the key to this is not to ignore them, but to get medical attention. Diet, exercise, wellness and taking care of ourselves is how we fight against this disease. So, try and manage stress, eat a healthy diet, exercise and watch your blood pressure.
According to Johns Hopkins, “Heart disease, also called cardiovascular disease, is a collective term for an array of conditions that effect the heart and blood vessels, and can effect people of any age.”
Wearing Red
National Wear Red day was declared Feb 5th, and I continue to wear red for Valentine’s Day and just because I love this bold color!
I am wearing my Mango light knit cardigan with my LOFT coated black denim. The stretch and the leather-look to the denim is what attracted me to coated jeans.
My bow bag is from Prada and was a gift for Christmas a few years ago.
I am wearing red to being awareness, and because I love the color! 🙂

My Outfit
By now you know red is one of my favorite colors and why not be a bit traditional with the Holiday of Love? This is one of my worn cardigans as I Iove the lighter knit and the puff sleeve as well as the design. I received it as a gift a few years ago. The classic combination of leopard, red and black is always welcome and flows together quite nicely! If you want to style this look more casually, replace the boots with a pair of slip on sneakers or fashion sneakers, and add a thin chain or gold earrings to the look.
The coated denim is from Loft, a few years ago and I also have a pair from NYDJ. I love that these are thick , with stretch and give a bit of a leather look to them.

Posted at 09:23h, 08 FebruaryI love red and leopard together just as much as I love pink and leopard together! Both combos are winners in my book.
It is important that we all pay attention our heart health, so many women suffer from heart attack, high blood pressure, strokes and most of these could be prevented with proper care upfront.

Posted at 09:19h, 08 FebruaryYou look lovely in red! I too love this bold color. I am also very concerned about heart health. In my family we live to be 100 or we die of the widow maker in late 50s. So it is a reason why I try so hard to exercise and eat right! Great post Jess!
Peace!

Posted at 01:38h, 08 FebruaryRed and leopard is one of my favorite combinations. The dark, rich tone of your sweater and purse looks divine with your boots and scarf. {chef’s kiss} Well done!
