Turning Heads Linkup – Gingham Print Dress, Straw Bag and Floral Statement Earrings

Good Morning friends!

Well, the last past summers, gingham print has gained even more popularity. I too, have been influenced, by all of the pretty gingham dresses, blouses and shoes i have seen throughout the blog world. I shared my pink ruffled gingham top here in this post, and today, I am wearing one of my favorite off the shoulder cobalt blue large patterned gingham print dress. Beside it being a large scaled gingham, what else is making a statement in this look? Well, my new cobalt floral earrings, of course!

Upcoming Summer Concert

Before I go into the outfit, let me tell you about something I am excited about this coming weekend… I will post about it after the fact. Hubby and I are going to see 2 of my favorite rock bands coming to Charlotte’s Spectrum Center…. Journey and Def Leppard! Yes! I LOVE both of these bands, my favorite album from Def Leppard being “Photograph” and Journey when Steve Perry WAS Journey. Rock and Roll! I’ll share a post next week of o I was an MTV girl, and aficionado, and know all of the lyrics to 98% of the tunes. “Foolin….FFF Foolin….. and “Here I am with Open Arms…hoping you see, what your love means to me, open arms.” I loved these bands back in the day, and they can still ROCK! Let’s see, I saw Journey with my best friend in Pittsburgh, when we were 17. That’s when I thought concert tees were expensive at $25 a pop. LOL! I need to make sure, I have my lighter in hand, and my hair freshly styled to “headbang”! oh yeah!

My Outfit- “Picnic Anyone?”

I bought this dress last year from Banana Republic, and loved the style, a simple waist tie and off the shoulder look. It is so comfortable! I loved the larger gingham print too. When i decided what shoes to wear, I was initially going to wear my white lace espadrilles, which would have worked nicely, but I wanted some additional color, and wore my blush pink shoes by Andre Assous, I received this year.

I am also wearing my new sunnies from EyeBuydirect and bought another pair as well. I have to look for the small sizes to fit my face, and this “Ray Ban style” really appealed to me. I added to the boldness of the earrings and gingham by wearing a magenta lipcolor by MAC.

During the Memorial Day sales, I bought a few new pairs of earrings, and these had “Jess” written all over them! The beautiful color and floral style would be worn easily with my current wardrobe. I have actually been having more fun buying statement earrings lately than necklaces, so they are here making their debut. I think of a simple outfit- lighter denim or denim shorts, soft white tee and these earrings. Simple, but statement making!

I had to take my circle straw bag, as put the gingham and bag together and you are off to a picnic! Now, where is that basket, cheese, hummus and bottle of wine?

So LETS PARTY!

I just got a b/w gingham dress and hoping to get the hubs to take some photos of me in it tonight. I really need to get a straw bag, they have been so popular this summer. Love yours!

Wow, these are some statement earrings. Your hair is beautiful, very intriguing shade. I think you look very stylish in the entire outfit. Nice that you get to go to two concerts of your favourite bands. When I was younger concerts were also way chepaer than now. Recently I wanted to go see the Scorpions and the price of the ticket nearly killed me.

I love this dress on you Jess! It’s so cute! And of course, the bag is divine. I picked one up that’s very similar during some travels this year. I couldn’t get the lady to come down in the night market of Luang Prabang, so I finally just paid what she wanted. It was on our last night there, and I knew I would totally regret it if didn’t just fork over the extra (minuscule) dollars she was asking for. I can be quite stubborn when bargaining in a market!

Anyway, your entire outfit is a delight! What a beautiful dress! It’s the perfect all occasion dress.

    Love, Ann

If I remember correctly I too bought that dress from BR last year. I remember trying it on and loving it, especially on sale. I have completely forgotten about it and I need to find it and wear it soon because it is gorgeous! You styled it so well. Both the statement necklace and bold earrings were perfect with it. Also, love your new blush pink shoes. And yeay those concerts sound like so much fun, Jess!

The first Sunday of each month I co-host a linkup with Chrissy and Kellyann so please join this month’s “The Sunday Showcase” (linked below) and welcome by each Thursday for my style linkup. Thanks and Happy June, Ada. =)

Beautiful gingham dress! I really like the oversized print and how great the off the shoulder style accents your fabulous new earrings! I loved/love Journey and Def Leppard, too! When I was in my early 20’s I saw Def Leppard in Greenville and was right by the stage (they had a circular stage that came down from the ceiling and stood in the middle of the auditorium). Rick Savage threw me his guitar pick and I was in heaven! Lol. 😉

Oh my goodness Jess, we have tickets to see Def Leppard and Journey when they come to Tampa in August! I am so excited!!! You’ll have to let me know how it is, we cannot wait. I’m not a concert girl but I love both Def Leppard and Journey. Something else we have in common today (besides our love of great bands) is this gingham print from BR. I have the shorts from last year. I love the print! This dress suits you so well, love the OTS and the way it fits you – just gorgeous. Love the cobalt earrings with it. You’ve inspired me to get out those shorts and wear them!
