Grey Skinny Jeans, Teal Long Cardigan – 3 Piece Rule

Happy Friday!~

I thought I would post this today, as I took this earlier, so a bonus fashion post this week!

It seems that I have been influenced. Funny, an influencer, now the influencee. Ha! The word sounds silly to me, as I don’t think to “influence”, but rather “share” my love for fashion and the art of creativity when it comes to fashion. Nonetheless, I have seen many long dusters, or cardigans, on various bloggers, and have been influenced enough to buy several for myself. The duster is the third piece in the 3 piece rule.

Anthropologie Long Duster

This teal blue with a chevron design, caught my eye as I love a beautiful jewel-toned color. I had been looking to wear my grey skinny jeans, as I purchased these with a flurry of other Rockstar 24/7 jeans of different washes. I have a pair of light grey, COH bootcut jeans I will wear, but the softness and stretch of these jeans certainly mirrors that of the AG jeans I have as well.

Dark grey denim pairs so well with neutrals and it looks wonderful with saturated colors too.

The teal bow blouse went perfectly with the long duster like they were meant to be paired together.

If you want a classic look or are “up” on your trends, try pairing a long duster over a pair of plaid pants.

Wearing comfortable booties is a must, and these Jambu from Fall 2017, fit the bill, creating a long line with the skinny jeans and duster. Memory foam cushioning, can’t be beat! If you are interested in black  Jambu booties with a bit of a heel,

Keep an eye out, as I will be posting about Jambu’s Spring collection, with a discount coming as well.

An Easy “Uniform”- 3 Piece Rule

When styling, do you have a “uniform” that is your go-to? This is one of those outfits that can be an easy uniform to put together. You have heard of the 3 piece rule? The blouse and jeans are the two pieces, and the third piece is a duster, kimono, jacket, that adds more style to a look, amplifying your style. I love styling with this rule in mind, and it is pretty easy to do so in the Fall. I have a fair amount of velvet blazers I look forward to adding as my third piece.

Accessories-

I love the vibrant color with the two shades of grey I wore in today’s look- A soft, fog grey “Love” bag from Rebecca Minkoff, adds texture to the look as well.

I love silver jewelry with grey tones. This necklace was gifted to me via Soft Surroundings, earlier this year. I wore it in this post- Pastel Look for Spring-Soft Surroundings. The silver earrings were worn in the same post.

Do you have a fashion “uniform” you often wear? Do you utilize the “3 piece rule” when dressing?

Id love to hear from you in the comments. Thank you!

OMG, this 75 year old fashion dysfunctional just found your sight and you wear my colors (I’m a red head too-by bottle)!! You say the teal duster is from Anthropologie but is it no longer available? I went on their site and found no place to search. I just spent money, not too much, purchasing an e-book on how to put outfits together (I told you I was fashion dysfunctional) and none of the colors are mine. HAPPY TO FIND YOU.

      Hi Paula!
Good to hear from you. Yes, to red hair! I wanted to let you know, some of my posts will have items I have purchased through Poshmark, a secondhand, thrifting site, on-line. So, if I list Poshmark, I try and find pieces that are similar to what I am wearing if the exact piece is not available. I love to wear color, and am glad to help you! xx

What a pretty chevron cardigan! Very flattering. Usually I am cold, so I always have a jacket on. The 3-piece rule isn’t intentionally used, but I suppose it is done. Hehe

Honestly I had never of the 3 piece rule but I feel like over here the weather only allows me to either wear 100 pieces because it’s too cold or 2 pieces because it’s too hot haha I love that shade of teal, it’s super pretty and you paired it really nicely with grey.

Thank you Marta! Oh, you made me laugh! Believe me there are certainly days where 2 pieces are enough! Yes, the 3rd piece tends to add a more sophisticated additon with a jacket, blazer, kimono, or cardigan as examples. xx

I have a duster almost like this, but I didn’t think to pair it with a shirt the same color. I’m not even sure I have much teal still left in my closet. Which is a shame since it’s a good color on me.
    Have a great weekend,
