Holiday Outfit-Layering a Crushed Velvet Dress

Good morning Ladies,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend? Are you getting the house ready for the Holidays? I am looking forward to traveling to visit my in-laws and taking the puppies for the Holidays. It is typically an 11 hour drive, but since that is too tough for me, we make a pit stop at my brother’s house overnight, and then only travel 3 hours the second day. That is do-able! We enjoyed an evening at one of our favorite wine bars on Friday, with some smooth and flavorful cherry noted Pinot Nior and some scrumptious sushi we picked up nearby. Today i am sharing with you another Holiday outfit, as I have wanted to pair blush pink and burgundy for a bit now, and I knew what pieces i was ready to style.

Besides velvet being a favorite texture of mine, I do love well made lace. This top is one of my most worn in my closet, a beautiful blush pink with leather accents on the cuffs, buttons and collar. I decided to layer this burgundy crushed velvet dress, with this blouse underneath. i bought this dress from Zara last year, and knew i would either want to wear a moto jacket with it initially, or style a blouse or light turtleneck underneath. So, I decided to style with the best of both worlds! Layering under this basic shift dress with the lace blouse, and over top I added my rose pink faux leather jacket.

What else makes for a Holiday outfit? Bling? am i right? This large floral shimmering statement necklace was the perfect touch! You could certainly wear any metallic gold, silver or my favorite rose gold with this look. I also love these earrings below to create more texture to the look.

Oh Jess, at first glance I wasn’t too keen on this outfit, but having had a detailed look, and read your comments, I can see it’s another winner! As soon as I read “lace blouse” and “blush pink with leather accents” I was won over! And then rose pink faux leather jacket as well – wow! Another fabulous outfit (I do love lace and leather!)

Posted at 09:05h, 04 December Reply

Thank you Heather! I do love to layer and also mix textures in the winter and fall. This is a light pink so it can be tough sometimes to capture where it doesn’t look almost white. I had my hubby take close ups so you could better see the lace and color. yes the leather details on the blouse is one of the features that i loved about this blouse. I love lace and leather too, and this jacket gets a fair amount of use. It is faux but a rather thick feels like leather coat. Happy holidays! xx
