How One Accessory Can Amplify a Look

Morning friends!

I am wearing my ray of sunshine maxi dress. Well, that is what I call it, as I just love the warm mustard yellow tone of the dress. You know I like my accessories and adding one special piece to an outfit, can certainly amplify the look.

Happenings

We do like to experiment with locations when taking photoshoots, and you start to get a feel for the best lighting. I was in the shade here, by a large tree on our nature trail, but the light was a bit too dark near my face. We bought reflectors, now if only I could find an assistant to hold them up to my face while hubby takes photos. Hmm. First world problems eh?

Anyhow, we have been looking at cars/SUVs as the air conditioner decided to go kaput on our Lexus. Granted it is nearly 200, 000 miles on it, and we have dumped moola into the air conditioning several times, it was time to send it to the auto graveyard! So, in the process of looking for cars, we have had to drive ours around to look at others. Boy, talk about a built-in sauna! I had sweat stains on my sweat stains! So, needless to say, we took pictures locally where I could walk to the photoshoot until the air is once again present in a new vehicle!

Outfit

I just love mustard. Not the condiment, the color. If you must know I prefer herb aoli or mayo. 🙂

This was an inexpensive maxi dress from H &M I bought years ago, and I liked the slits in the front. ( The only air conditioning I have) and light fabric. One thing, however, is you do have to iron it, and it will show sweat if you get too hot. Other than that, it is a fun style to wear if you are out and can be kept cool.

When I saw this wooden belt, with its browns, olive, yellow and orange tones, I thought “How groovy!”

It’s got a 70s color scheme going on, but also will look fabulous year-round. The colors are very conducive for Fall, and the woven leather is not stiff, but rather comfortable to wear I knew I wanted to pair it with this dress straight away!

Gold jewelry also looks great with mustard. Can yo have too much gold, sunniness in the Summer time? I can’t!

I wore gold ball drop earrings c/o Soft Surroundings, and this wide gold cuff, which was also gifted via Soft Surroundings this year.

I repeated the love for gold in my espadrilles I am wearing as well. I love the platform and strap making them very comfortable too.

I absolutely love that belt! You have a real knack for the selecting just the right accessories! Would definitely like to get better at accessorizing my outfits. And I’m a fan of that mustard color as well … I never used to wear any variation of yellow when I was younger, but I’ve come to really enjoy wearing mustard and gold hues.

This mustard dress and the belt are adorable on you! I appreciate your suggestions as I am NOT good at fashion so your tips are so helpful. I love your comments about needing a photo assistant! These problems we must consider when taking photos!

I love the belt with your yellow dress!
I am short waisted and find wide belts hard to style but I like your soft braided belt!
Wide leather belts cut into my ribcage!

      Hi RObin!
Oh, that doesn’t sound pleasant. I don’t wear alot of belts, but I do love the style and the braided lighter leather with dresses. Glad you like the outfit and hope you have a great day! xx

That belt IS perfect with the dress. I just wore a maxi like this the other day, and that’s exactly what mine needed. Thanks for the inspiration, Jess.
We keep wondering about reflectors. I think there are stands for them, but it’s not always easy to set them up in crowded areas…..ugh!!

      Hi Jodie!
Thank you! I have this and my brown belt that is similar from Mango and I love the lighter, leather that they have. I loved the warm colors in this one. So, true! I try to avoid an audience, when doing photo shoots and this would be tough to avoid with the reflectors. We will see! 🙂 xx

Bummer about the A/C not working – I can only imagine – the heat is so oppressive here!

Aw, you are a sweetie! Thank you. I do like this dress and have other dresses I will wear this and my chocolate brown belt with this fall. After a month of looking, we did find a car! Tell you about it tomorrow. It was tough drivin around without air in this heat. So glad you like this look, yes, you know I love this color. xx
