20 Jan How to Wear Cropped Wide Leg Denim + Reader’s Survey Reminder!
Happy Monday friends!
I like a change of pace with denim. I have a fair amount of skinny jeans in my closet, so I like to change it up a bit. These wide-leg cropped jeans were bought on Poshmark, an online thrifting site for about $20. They have stretch, are comfortable and give you a different silhouette. Plus, I am leaving my survey up for you to complete until this Wednesday, Jan 22. This is my first Elegantly Dressed and Stylish Blog Reader’s Survey and I would love if you would complete the 10 questions if you haven’t already! Thank you!
HERE IS THE LINK TO THE SURVEY I POSTED ON FRIDAY. EDS READER SURVEY
I’ve had a good response so far, and hope to release the survey results this Friday. If you can, please answer it should take a few minutes!
The length is important here. I am wearing a size 2 and I’m 5 foot 9. I have sized down one in Wit and Wisdom, and what I have found is the
jeans without the “Ab-solution” waistband I stay in my usual size 4, the others without the waistband, I size down one size.
Weekend
So, what’s up in Jess’s world? Can someone tell me why January seems to drag on forever? One of these years I want to go to the Carribean in Jan or Feb, to escape the winter months.
It seems to be all about movies in January for us. In the last few weeks, we have seen Bombshell, Uncut Gems, and we went to see 1917, over the weekend. The movie that wasn’t released when the Golden Globes presented it with awards. 1917 was excellent and really captured my interest! Must see!
I also made this Butternut Squash soup and buy the pre-cut cubes of Butternut squash at the grocery store. Makes this recipe even easier! Its soooo good!
Sunday was a cleaning day! Oh, what I wouldn’t give for a cleaning lady! With EDS comes fatigue in addition to pain, so I have to do a little at a time. If I genie granted me 3 wishes one would be cleaning help for life!
Ways to Wear
You might say, I can’t wear cropped wide-leg denim because I am short. I think the jeans all come down to the length and choice of shoes if you are interested in trying a pair.
One thing to consider is you want to see the waistband of your jeans as to keep the longer look. Wear a more fitted blouse, jacket or top gives you a better silhouette. Tuck in the top if it is longer and keeps it more streamlined. I am wearing a Target cream cami under the velvet blazer and I have tucked it in.
Since we are talking about proportions, there are certain shoes that will look best with the cropped wide-leg pant or jeans. Wearing a heel will go a long way to keeping a long leg line. If you are wearing wide-leg pants, as opposed to jeans, a way to keep the long leg line is to wear the same color shoes as your pants.( extra tip!)
I love the look of these jeans with a tall boot. There is no division between the boot and jeans and I just think it looks smashing! Knee high boots are everywhere now and on-trend. Every lady needs a pair of black or cognac knee high boots in their wardrobe!
Try a block heeled sandal in the Spring.
Sure you can wear an ankle boot, but make sure it has a heel. A pointed toe is preferred with an ankle boot, as it lengthens the leg, as opposed to a rounded toe since you are showing skin between the jeans and your boots.

Posted at 14:33h, 26 JanuaryJess, I seriously die over this velvet blazer every time you wear it! And the cropped jeans are adorable. I haven’t worn mine since last winter. Perhaps I need to follow your inspiration and take mine out for a spin. I agree with you that women of any size or height can pull off this look with the right shoes. Such a great outfit!

Posted at 09:55h, 21 JanuaryHi Christina! I used to think that too, that I was not into certain styles and then once I tried them on, I thought they were fun to wear and a nice change. Give them a go! Thank you! I found the blazer online, thrifting 🙂

Posted at 11:17h, 20 JanuaryI made the same observation recently (that I was tired of skinny jeans) and pulled out my wide leg crops, as well. I’ve been wearing mine with booties. I love the look for a change, and bonus, they are high waisted. P.S. I can’t believe we’re the same height, yet you’re a minuscule size 4!

Posted at 11:31h, 20 JanuaryHi KIm,
I styled skinny jeans for tomorrow’s post, but I have been wearing different styles at home and do find myself reaching for these. Its just fun wearing different looks and not always the same style denim. Thank you! I didn’t know you were 5 9″! 🙂

Posted at 07:01h, 20 JanuaryThese look great on you, so tall and slim, how could they not? I ordered a pair of Amazon Prime – tried them through Prime Wardrobe, returned them and then purchased with a gift card. They’re supposed to be here tonight. I’ll have to style them like this!Uncut Gems practically gave me an anxiety attack – my boys loved it!

Posted at 11:30h, 20 JanuaryThank you my friend! I think blogging has got me trying different styles and I really like that. Even hubby has noticed. These are comfy and I look forward to styling them with some sandals too for te Spring. I bet they will look great on you, and look forward to you styling them. I know! Uncut Gems wasn’t my favorite, too much yelling and I didn’t really like the characters! 🙂
