21 Nov Turning Heads Linkup-Leopard and Lace-and a New Favorite Accessory
Good Morning Ladies!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are looking forward to the coming Thanksgiving holiday. My hubby and I, along with my sister and niece, went to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens to get into the spirit of the Holidays. The lighted trees, in red, blue, green, yellow colors around the Gardens, along with a clarinet group, playing Christmas standards started to get me in the mood. Do you go to places such as these and come home with extra vigor and motivation for decorating? Earlier in the day, my hubby and I went to lunch and I wore this look to lunch.
In my post Friday, Faux Fur, History and Shopping Choices, I wrote how faux fur is a popular trend right now, one of those being leopard print. I am a fan of leopard, as it is a fun print and also a neutral that can go with any color. I wanted to pair this Mad Men Edition Leopard cardi ( poshmark for $15) with one of my lace skirts. This fuller delicate lace detailed burgundy skirt combined with some fun pointed leather booties from Zara, was the outfit I wanted to wear. Any colored skirt or pattern would have worked with the leopard cardi. Do try and think of it as a neutral color and you will get much use out of your leopard garment. The cardi was paired with berry tones in my skirt, booties and handbag.
When I first saw this emerald green bow choker from Zara, with a black velvet ribbon and shimmering silver square brooch attached, I knew it had to be mine! Zara also has the same choker in black and other similar styles in a deep red. I decided I would wear it as a choker to add some sparkle to today’s look. If you need more layers for weather where you live, you could add a colored top underneath this cardigan or a white button down.
You could wear it a multitude of ways;
- As a choker necklace
- Add it to a white button down for more flair and fun
- A plain sweater for additional color.
- Jazz up your LBD for the Holidays!
I am going to wear it with my green velvet dress for Christmas and will share that look sometime on the blog. I love adding accessories to looks that really make a statement.
Are you a choker fan? Did you wear them “back in the day”? How might you style this piece?
Here are some other accessories that add ‘bling’ and sparkle for the Holidays.

Posted at 10:00h, 22 NovemberI love the choker Jess! I’m not keen on them on me because I don’t feel they suit my body shape, but I would definitely wear this style because the bow elongates the chest area like a necklace. It’s a beautiful shade of green too. Fabulous leopard print cardigan!

Posted at 17:55h, 21 NovemberI remember you mentioning this choker when Margaret Manning of Sixty & Me interviewed you – and it is gorgeous on you! In the past, I did love choker style necklaces but as time and tide have had their way with my neck, I tend to wear longer necklaces.

Posted at 11:47h, 21 NovemberI love the play of the leopard against the lace and if that wasn’t enough we have that gorgeous choker! Wow, what a lovely colour. I adore emerald green and it’s beautiful with the burgundy skirt. I like chokers but I’ve never seen one quite like this. So unusual.
