Maxi Dress-Dressing in This Heat

Hello friends!

Its one of those extra hot weekends here in the South. 100 degrees, humid and your sweating as soon as you leave the house.  You see the summertime commericals on TV. Everyone is on a beach, or having a party, drinking cocktails and enjoying themselves with their friends. The sunshine is out, it a sunny afternoon and everyone is smiling! Well, those commercials can be pure fantasy, can they not, when the weather hits almost 100 degrees and the real feel is even higher?

So, what are you to do, when the summer at times parallels winter and you just have to stay inside? Do you get grumpy or are you fond of “sweating your drawers off” ? Well, I am not a big fan of this kind of heat, as it is too hot to really go outside and do anything active, unless you wait until the evening hours.

We did decide to see a movie, when the weather boils, this one being ” The Big Sick” which sounded like a fun, romantic comedy, something easy and entertaining. I loved it, and got all teary eyed, as it was funny and touching. The air conditioning would be blaring, as I have not gone into a theatre where I didn’t have to wear a cardi or jacket. No problem! Easier to add clothes, that to subtract. What would I wear in this heat, when just the idea of heat, leaves sweat stains down your top or dress.

Material, is important. linen, cotton or light fabrics are the way to go. Or… you could just wait until later in the day and live in your swimsuit from now unitl the end of August. Since I am not doing that, I took out one of my lightest dresses. A breathable, airy sea green maxi dress I bought last year at LOFT.

Today I decided to pair this sea green LOFT maxi dress with some golden shimmery Franco Sarto espadrilles. I loved the cloth style and how I can add  metallic  accents to a summer outfit. I found these on Nordstrom Rack for a mere $40!

Women have their go-to summer looks they enjoy wearing. Maybe your summer “uniform” is a bathing suit? Its either the pool or air in this kind of heat.! Im keeping it a bit short this week, as I need to see an orthopedist for possible carpel tunnel.

Looking for a maxi dress? This material reminds me of blue waters in the Carribean… maybe you are on the hunt a maxi to just throw on in the summer. Jazz it up with some mettalic jewelry and shoes and you are ready for a night out!

Have some fun shopping for dresses! I put together some pretty maxi dresses from the Nordstrom Sale: I am not one to inundate with Nordstrom blog posts, but wanted to share some sales with you. The sale goes until August 6th.

PLEASE JOIN ME TOMORROW FOR ANOTHER SUMMER TIME LOOK AND TURNING HEADS TUESDAY LINKUP!

Have a great day and stay cool!

Hi Jodie, thank you! I need to add more blue / blueish green to my closet. This maxi is one of my lightest dresses, so it is cool… at least when it isn’t near 100 degrees~ xx

A maxi like this is perfect on these sweltering days, and you look gorgeous. Love the cut and color on you. I admit to staying indoors/car/office as much as possible until around October! xox

Thank you Patti! I love to be outside, and that is one thing about NC that I love that I couldnt do in Pittsburgh, is I can be outside throughout much of the year. We have had, some really hot temps here lately where you have to either be outside on in the pool~ xx
