28 Oct Mott & Bow – Premium Denim for Less
Good Morning friends!
So this week is Halloween and I’ll be sharing our looks on the blog. So what is NOT scary? The price of the jeans I am wearing! Mott and Bow sells premium denim at a fair price.
I’d love to introduce you to a NYC jean company called Mott & Bow. When I was contacted, I was asked to choose several of their basics. I chose a dark pair of mid-rise skinny denim and a grey cashmere crew neck sweater.
Mott and Bow- denim
What makes Mott and Bow different from other denim companies? First, they offer designer quality denim for about half the cost.
With a family-owned facility, they control the manufacturing cost, and eliminate the middle man.
“Using the finest denim fabrics from the best mills in the world and applying manually intensive artistic processes in the laundry we transform the denim and make it look effortless”
Mott and Bow is about quality denim at an affordable price. Designer-quality jeans that cost less.
I know this, as I used to belong, about 10-12 years ago, to a Denim forum. I was very interested in designer denim by Citizens of Humanity, Seven for All Mankind, True Religion, Hudson, and Rock and Republic. Members would post pictures in their denim and we would chat about the style. I enjoyed the camaraderie and denim, as we would sell and buy each other. I did spend a pretty penny on jeans at the time. This was before my blogging days. Many pairs of premium denim run closer to $200, with such pairs from AG jeans, Frame, and other companies.
Fast forward. I wasn’t able to wear jeans for almost 10 years, as with my condition, and the sensitivity in my legs and glutes made it impossible. They were not comfortable to me. Fashion also wasn’t a real concern when I was first in the throws of my disease.
Nowadays, I am back to wearing jeans. They have to be soft. They have to be comfortable and have stretch.
When Mott & Bow contacted me, I was excited to try new denim at a more reasonable cost. The mid rise Jane skinny jean I am wearing retails at $108, and their jeans run from $96-1!18.
Try On Program
I requested two sizes from Mott and Bow, using their Try-On Program, I felt confident one of the sizes would fit. I asked for the Jane Mid-Rise Skinny jean. They came shortly thereafter and I received 2 sizes, to find that my usual size of 27 in denim fit wonderfully. With the program, you can try on two different sizes and return a pair with a pre-paid label provided by the company. You have 5 days to return the pair.
The wash was beautiful. A saturated dark wash, they could be dressed up or worn casually. They come in a “3-month wash” which was -Resin is sprayed onto raw jean. Pre-cured and then curated in oven. Hand Sanded. Stone Washed. Dried. Sprayed. Rinsed. Dried.
- 45% elasticity and a weight of 12.8 oz.
- 44% Cotton; 42% Tencel; 13% Polyester; 1% Elastane.
The legs are narrow and there was room in the waist. I am fine with that as I like to have a little bit of room in my denim in the waist where nothing is pressing on my stomach. I can see myself wearing these often! I knew there was going to be some softness, as they have 42% Tencel and I know Tencel softens the fabric
Basics
Mott and Bow are also known for their basics. They have soft tees, basic sweaters in crew and v-neck. I adore this oxblood cable knit sweater! They have quite a few cashmere sweaters, which is a basic layer you want in your closet! Who can say no to cashmere? They also have some dresses for layering. I love this soft light grey cashmere sweater I chose. I am wearing it in an XS and went by the size chart to ensure fit.
It is perfect too for NC temps right now and later I may style with a jeweled collar white button-down I own under it to dress it up even more.
My Outfit
Since I was to share my “basics” – the cashmere crew neck and dark skinny jeans
, I added some color and pattern to the look. A scarf with burgundy, dark grey and white would add some additional color and would pair nicely with my Jacquard Marc Fisher booties. I do often like silver with greys, so I added a pair of silver sterling earrings to the look. Finishing the look, I took out my Rebecca Minkoff Love bag in Fog. Easy uniform, and a put-together style!
Jean butt shot required.
Give Mott & Bow a try! I think you would love their Try-On program and quality of the jeans. What style would you gravitate toward?

Posted at 08:37h, 30 OctoberThese jeans sound great! I like their try on policy as it’s not always possible to get a good fit. and the price point is very good! I like the way you paired the jeans with the sweater and the scarf was the perfect finishing touch.

Posted at 13:00h, 30 OctoberHi Phyliis! I also liked the Try on program as it makes ordering easier and gives ladies a chance to try 2 sizes. I love berry tones with greys, so I was glad my scarf was a hit!

Posted at 12:58h, 30 OctoberSo true! Basics are the foundations and then you can add trends, accessories etc, as I have done with my scarf and boots. You cant beat cashmere!

Posted at 12:57h, 30 OctoberHi Lisa! Just an easy uniform! Cashmere or a cute sweater and dark denim. Im quite happy with the jeans and do like the price point.
Happy Great Day
Posted at 22:26h, 28 OctoberI might like to try this brand. 👖 Honestly, I haven’t worn jeans in years because I used to wear Rock N’ Republic, then they cheaped out on the fabric. That exact right stretchiness and thread count is everything. I would honestly rather pay more and have one extremely high quality pair of jeans than 20 less-than pairs. It’s all about the fabric. You’ve got me curious now. ❤️~ Suzana Barton

Posted at 12:57h, 30 OctoberHi Suzane,
I used to wear a lot of Rock and Republic too! Yes, when Kohls bought them, they were made differently, not as much quality. I bet you would like these!

Posted at 12:55h, 30 OctoberHi! Thank you! I thought it was smart as well, as often women try on more than one pair of jeans at a time.

Posted at 11:59h, 28 OctoberThe entire look is perfect with your tall slender figure. I’m with you as years ago I spent a pretty penny on jeans and that’s not for me any more. My daughter says I need new ones so it’s time I look into other options. Great info Jess!

Posted at 06:13h, 28 OctoberThis pair of jeans look great on you Jess! I adore your scarf and booties too. Heck, I love this entire look! I have never owned designer jeans as it seemed odd to me to be buying a pair that cost similarly to a handbag so thank goodness for Mot & Bow to make jeans that are more affordable. Got to love companies like that!

Posted at 11:18h, 28 OctoberHi Maureen! Thank you. Yes, for the quality of the jeans and how they fit, they are very worth the price. I love that they have a lot of different washes and the try on option. Hope you are well!

Posted at 04:35h, 28 OctoberWow Jess, those jeans are terrific on you! I have had a few pair of premium denim and they sure are $$$. This is a brilliant idea – allowing you to try on and return what doesn’t fit. That’s always the hardest part of buying jeans, finding the best fit. Loving that cashmere too, that is another thing I do not own. Your scarf is so pretty and pulls it all together. Those booties are perfect for this ensemble!
xo,
