06 Jan New Year – New Goals 2025
Happy New Year friends,
Here we are in 2025, and I wanted to share with you, some of my goals for the new year.
Bye 2024
First, I wanted to say, thank you. Thank you for your feedback about keeping the blog going, and in general. I hope you had a wonderful Holiday and are ready to take on the New Year with some zest!
Goals should be attainable and specific. Ex- I will work at the shelter 2 days a week, rather than I will work at the shelter this year.
As always, it is a fresh, new year and setting goals helps me with a focus.
Overall, 2024 was a good year. We traveled to Charleston, Martha’s Vineyard, Portugal and Spain. Had such a wonderful time exploring places, and seeing new sights. I truly love learning about new cultures.
My mom moved down here, so now she is less than 15 minutes away. She said, “Youree going to be sorry!” and of course I laughed, as there are 3 siblings here to look after her. We are already having good times.
My girl ( shih tzu) Truffles passed, on Dec 21st, so I still feel like I am in a bit of a haze and dark cloud. She was 15.5. My dogs are my life. I love them to bits. She went downhill after having a stroke. Nevertheless, we made the best life for her, and my Gibson. He is 13 and doing well. I do think he is a bit oblivious, which works in his favor!
So for 2025, Here are some Goals-
- Continue with Adventure- Travel to England and Scotland for 2 weeks in the Spring. Met two lovely English couples in Portugal who mentioned that April or May would be a good time.
- Join New North Mecklenburg Rec Center- go 2 days a week for weight training, swimmingContinue with walking and resistance bands at home.
- Do PT exercises 3-4 days a week for Pelvic floor.
- Continue to have a protein shake every day for lunch for my Gastroperesis. Eat low FODMAP with IBS-C,
- Volunteer 2 days a week at the shelter. Days with dogs- one always feels better!
- Adopt a new pup. Waiting until after our travels, and then it will be training time, so no time for anything else! LOL.
- Play new Gibson guitar for 1 hour each day and create set list with 50 songs by summer.
- Wear what’s in my closet for all of Jan- Feb, and style pieces in different ways- share on blog and IG.
- Get to 15k on Instagram by the end of the year. Follow me HERE.
These are some of my goals that should be attainable, as these are some on the forefront of my mind.
If you missed our trips this past year, I’d love for you to read about Charleston,( Isle of Palms Part 1, Part 2) Martha’s Vineyard, Portugal and Spain., here.

Posted at 23:27h, 11 JanuaryGlad to read that you are thinking ‘new pup’ but not until your travels are behind you. That will allow more time to grieve the loss of Truffles, too. We found a kitty the summer of 2023 and 2-3 days later our kitty died. I was glad to have Purrcy to distract me from losing Purrsimmony but I feel like Purrsimmony was forgotten too soon. I loved her so much but got wound up with caring for this tiny new kitty.
So impressed with your IG goals – love your posts – and the guitar playing. For about 5 minutes a couple of years ago, I was trying to play my keyboard some but haven’t looked at it in a year. Should do that now and then.
How are you feeling? Does the PT help? You are amazing to be as active as you are – the swimming, walking, etc. even though you have painful days. God bless you!! Hope this year you feel closer to 110%!!
Glad to read having your mom close has worked well. Had no idea you had siblings there to help with her care but that is fabulous. The best situation for everyone. Wonderful> Make lots of great memories in the year to come.

Posted at 12:41h, 10 JanuaryI’m so sorry to hear about Truffles. It’s truly heart breaking to lose a much-loved pet. I’m missing Henry terribly. Sending lots of love. Whereabouts in England and Scotland are you planning to visit? I’d love to meet up with you if your itinerary permits!

Posted at 11:46h, 09 JanuaryThank you Lizzie. It is. It was so hard to see her go downhill after the stroke. She was “Princess Truffles” and would eat fruits and veggies and cuddled. Just miss her. Thanks, yes that would be so fun to jam together! I have to start hitting the open stages.

Posted at 11:48h, 09 JanuaryThank you Marsha! She was such an amazing dog, I am missing her big time! We will get another dog after our travels in April. I have a table set up at home for Truffles. I appreciate it and might be interested in doing some of the prompts for the blog that you ladies do.
I appreciate you reading my blog, it means alot.
