One Dress Two Ways

Karina dress, Born Boots

Happy Monday Ladies

Hard to believe it is March 2nd!! I expect to be wearing floral dresses and lighter colors any day now! But, for the time being, I have been inspired by many of the bloggers I have seen that have taken dresses and worn them in several ways.

Karina dress, Cole Haan Flats

MY FALL LOOK: Karina Bronze leaf dress, Rebecca Minkoff satchel, Cole Haan woven leather flats

If you recall, this was one of the looks I had shown you in the fall. This is one of my Karina dresses, the Megan in a bronze/brown fall leaves print. I love the colors and thought they would work well with my hair. This is how I styled the look for fall. The dress was worn with a real copper covered leaf as a necklace, and leaves and earrings. The necklace were purchased in the artsy fartsy town of Asheville. ( I say this with much love) I love nature and this was just a beautiful piece to remind me of so. Taking the browns in the dress, I chose to wear my comfortable, yet stylish Cole Haan woven flats, and one of my favorite light cognac colored textured bags by Rebecca Minkoff.

Loft pumpkin sweater, Rebecca Minkoff handbag

I have not yet styled one of my dresses two different ways in a post, so I thought this was a great opportunity. With the brown being a very conducive neutral, I added one of my favorite colors, pumpkin, in a cardigan, with chiffon detailing down the front. I also decided to add my rich dark brown leather Born boots to the ensemble. By now, the snow has turned to that wonderful, yummy slush color and texture that I am more than familiar with living in Pittsburgh for over 30 years.

Nevertheless, I wasn’t taking pictures sloshing through the puddles of leftover snow. If one wants to go from fall with a more casual look, one suggestion is to take a print or color that transitions well to a season, add a blazer or a complimentary sweater. Perhaps change out your jewelry or add a different scarf/accessory. Lastly, if you were wearing heels or flats, change to booties, OTK or knee high boots. This gives one ample opportunity to expand one’s wardrobe, and we ALL love that right?

I appreciate the bloggers who have given me the inspiration to take a dress I love and transform the look two different ways.

How do you make the most of your wardrobe? How do you style one dress perhaps for 2 different seasons ?

    Jess,
Love the print and color palette of this dress! The card has such wonderful details, as does that beautiful bag.
This is beautifully done, as always.
it can be challenging to use a clothing item for a few season,s but many things, like this dress, can be done so well!

Love the colors of this dress and how it compliments you hair and complexion. I never though you could do much with dresses, compared to separates, but blogging has also helped me challenge myself to style dresses in different and unique ways.

Thank you Annette, see we have a pretty long spring summer, or sometimes it just goes winter to hot. I need to make the most of expanding my wardrobe this way. When I moved here from Pennsylvania, I had more winter clothes than spring, sothat is what I have been buying recently.
Glad you like both looks. I know everyone is ready for a change.have a great week! xx
