My Refined Style-#13-Lace and New Over the Knee Boots+New Year Thoughts

Hello Friends!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday! I posted yesterday about Christmas Day, and what a great time I had seeing my family and 4 dogs! Here we are into January, and as always I think of some of the goals and things I wish to achieve in the New Year. If you didn’t see yesterday’s post on my goals for the New year, click HERE. Here we are, the first My Refined Style linkup of 2017! So glad to be hosting with my lovely blogger friends and can’t wait to see your posts. I have worn plenty of color, ( which I love) prior to Christmas time, but wanted to put together some neutral looks with plenty of texture, ( Tues and today’s post). I think this is one of the best ways to make a neutral outfit more interesting!

As I think about my goals for the New Year, my health is always forefront in my mind .What changes can I make? How do I improve?  I am working on getting off a medication, but it will most likely take a year’s time. It has to be done slowly, so I do not have side effects. I have also been given the go ahead to finally use machines for lifting weights. I have only been able to use bands or light barbells until recently, and my PT thinks this will aid in stability and strength, and also give me additional energy, which I need! I am excited as I always have enjoyed weight lifting and being active. I look back to 9 years ago when I was diagnosed, and I was laying on the couch most days, so I feel that assessing what steps I can take to improve my function, has been encouraging. I truthfully never thought at the time, I would be able to travel or do some of the things I am doing now.

Today, I am sharing one of the gifts that Santa brought me- a pair of rust colored suede over the knee boots! I love this color and will try wearing them with jeans, but absolutely love them with a dress. I am pairing them with my cream antique lace dress from Zara,a brown faux leather jacket I was due for a neutral look and thought this would pair nicely!

I am sure I will be wearing color next week, but was wanting to wear neutrals for a change. As I mentioned, these boots are comfortable, and as someone who needs support, stability and cushion, they work well! The max heel height I can wear is 2-2.25 inches and a block heel.

I would love to hear some of your goals for 2017. If you would like to share, tell me in the comments or tell me about a fashionable item you received from Santa that you are excited to wear!

I just realised that I’ve never associated neutral = boring when it comes to your outfits, Jess. You always incorporate some textural interest and/or slight accent of colour, and those little touches elevate everything 🙂 and I am SO happy for you, with regard to the fitness. It is always so encouraging when we feel we’ve made advancements, regardless of whether they’re as far as we think we should be or would like to be. SO SO happy xoxo

I am trying to keep up with comments! Thank you Shelia for your comment! I do love to add textural elements to neutrals. Thanks so much for the well wishes, yes I have been to the gym and it makes me feel like my “former self!” even though it is taking me some time to recoup! Youre very sweet! xo

It’s so great that you’re feeling better little by little. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through…
I love the OTK boots. My first pair was bought with dresses & skirts in mind. As much as I like wearing them with jeans, I think they can’t be beat for keeping your warmer with dresses!!
You look absolutely lovely Jess. I love all of the textures!
