01 Jul Rust Midi Slipdress for Summer
Have no fear, there will be a Patriotic look for the 4th of July tomorrow on the blog 🙂
What’s almost as good as wearing your pj’s in the summertime? Well, wearing a slip dress or sundress in the summer! The one and done outfit is so easy to wear and so comfortable, it might as well be like wearing your pj’s! I am wearing a rust slip dress with black stitching from Mango on the blog today, as you know I can’t resist those spicy colors!
Hi friends!
Since July is here, you can read what I have planned for much of the rest of the summer here on this post- Summer To Do List. .
I showed you the Knockout roses I planted and have hopes of surrounding the deck in our backyard with azaleas and a lilac bush. I know very little about plants, but suppose you learn as you go! My mom has quite the backyard and really enjoys getting out there and seeing the fruits of her labor.
I just love the idea of waking up surrounded by pretty flowers and bushes as I sit outside to write.
We have a nature trail behind our house, and sometimes our backyard seems like a nature wonderland. We spotted this lizard, with a vibrant blue tail in one of our planting pots and there were 4 little eggs that would take 6 weeks to hatch. Now, lizards and salamanders don’t bother me, its the creepy crawly insects that do!
Outfit
I am all about dressing comfortably and certainly never liked anything tight on me. This is an example of how you can look put together in the summertime, stay comfortable, and not sacrifice style. Even if you weren’t into all the jewelry in the summer months, you could choose one piece to wear to accent this type of look.
It’s the time of year in Charlotte when it is hot, hot hot! I was really enjoying the 78-80 degree temps with a breeze that my mom brought with her! Now, what is the tricky part about blogging when it is hot? Well, let’s just say I “glow” alot! haha. Prepare to bring your paper towels with photo shoots, you get the picture.
My accessories were begging to come out of my jewelry stand- bronzes and golds, from the Sylca Necklace ( c/o) to the bronze cuff ( Soft Surroundings c/o) and bronze/gold earrings my hubby bought my from Kendra Scott at Christmas. If this is more than you wear in the Summer, just pick one piece- ie.. the earrings.
This rust with black stitching slip dress called out to me on Mango, as I liked the straight style that went longer than the knee and would go with much in my closet. Those mustards, olives, pine greens, and rust shades really speak to me. I’d love to get this thick leather/wood belt to wear with this as well. The dress is on SALE, and also comes in a tan color.
My Brahmin bag in Pecan would look great with this, but after several pictures, I thought it was a bit too dressy, back to the best bag of the season! My rattan circle bag is carried often and goes with so much!
My Andre Assous gold accented espadrilles are on repeat as well and were gifted last year. Metallic sandals are a great option to go with so many neutrals in the summer.
It’s always interesting to try pictures at different times of the day in the summer. We try and avoid the hottest time of day as to avoid the harsh sunlight, but sometimes as the sun goes down, you get a hazy effect, that is what you can see here as they were taken around 5 or 6 in the evening.
Have you tried a slip dress for summer?
Have a great day!
I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT TURNING HEADS TUESDAY TOMORROW WHERE I WILL FEATURE A 4TH OF JULY LOOK.
