Spring Trends 2019 – Which Would You Wear?

Happy Friday friends!

I always love to hear about what the latest trends are for the year, in Fashion. Some are more wearable than others, but its always fun to see what I may want to incorporate or add to my closet if I choose something trendy.  Let’s look at what some of the major trends are for Spring/Summer 2019, and I’d love to hear from you if you would wear any of them.

Spring Shopping

Im in the market to revamp my Spring wardrobe, as many of the pieces are old and I’ve got fewer clothes for Spring-Summer than I do Fall-Winter. I’ve got jeans, jean skirts, white and denim jean shorts, and a few skirts. I added a few linen dresses last year into the mix, but need more dresses and cute blouses/tops this year. I’ve been not shopping for 2 months, due to a treadmill I bought for the house, so come April, it’ll be fast and furious! he he! I’m loving the neutrals for summer, the khakis/olives, and hope to incorporate some pieces to mix/match, as well as solid colors or other prints besides florals ( I have enough).

Spring Trends

Tie Dye- Hello! Jerry Garcia called, and wants his tie-dye back! Tie Dye is showing on the runway, and I know I instantly think of the Grateful Dead and the 70s hippie movement. Tie Dye also makes me think of crafts, and the last time I crafted something was in Girl Scouts, so it has been awhile. So for me, tie-dye is a no.

Spicy Colors- Yes! When you think of spice, do you think mustards, browns, rusts, oranges, reds? I am loving this trend and have many of these shades in my closet for summer and spring. These Autumn type shades are great with red hair, and many brands are showing linen blazers, dresses, and footwear in these hot colors! Spicy is a yes!

Head to Toe Neutrals- Some people may think of neutrals as boring, but they are anything but when you dress with added accessories that really take those soft neutral shades to another level. I have linen dresses I purchased last year, that I will add textured belts in brown, neck scarves with snakeskin print. cognac or chocolate brown leather sandals etc. I find neutrals in the Pantone Colors for Spring to be classic and so easy to pair. Neutrals are a yes!

Bike Shorts- How did this happen? The only time I want to wear bike shorts is.. you guessed it, when I am biking! Fortunately the padded crotch is out, but these are more like form-fitting Bermuda shorts. I have seen them worn with blazers and long tunics, but I think if you are going with this length, wear a pair of structured Bermuda shorts. They are tailored and much more stylish! Bike shorts are a no! ( unless you are biking) 🙂

Neon- You can’t be a wallflower or hide in Neon. The ultra-bright shades are to be noticed. I always think of store signs! For my personality, I love the color, but neon has never struck a chord with me. If you aren’t looking to go full fledge outfit, chose an accessory like a clutch or pair of earrings. For me, neon is a no.

Safari Jacket and Style- Oh yes! I have never been on a Safari or to Africa, but I love love the look of a Safari dress or trending more, is the Safari Jacket. I love this pocketed style and how it can be worn with anything from jeans to light linen pants, or worn over a tank dress. These jackets are being shown in off white, olive, and mustard. Classic, think- Ralph Lauren.  Safari Jacket is a Yes!

This jacket above is one from Anthropologie I scored in later Spring last year – bought on Poshmark. I need to style it!

This is not a definitive list, but many of the trends this season.

Tell me, what trends would you wear, what trends are a “No” for you? Why?

Have a great weekend!
Jess xx

Hi Jess! I love love the tie dye trend and I’m planning to add a few pieces to my wardrobe…I already have added some of the spicy colors (you look great in that dress btw) and always always love a good safari jacket! The biker short probably won’t be a trend that I’ll participate in, but that’s the great thing about trends, and anything else really – we get to decide! Great post!

I can see you in some pretty pieces, they are making tie die in so many items, I recently saw a blue slip dress that was pretty. You have a great safari green jacket.

First of all, I I must say, that you look incredibly beautiful in that paprika colored dress. I do love the warm spicy tones and I also like the neon trends, but especially when they just represent a pop of color. I don’t think I have the coloring to pull off a head to toe neon green. Lol.

I’ve always liked olive green and neutral colors.

Bike shorts for me are absolutely a no.
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend my friend.

Thank you Elle! I can see that, a small neon clutch or pair of earrings. Thank you regarding the dress, it is one of my favorites. I love the neutrals too and spicy! Seems to be “no” is the concensus for bike shorts! Hope you enjoyed your weekend as well! xx

Hey, Jess, I’m complete in agreement with your assessment. I am surprised and delighted on how many of the “fall” tones are in stores right now. Also, I knew the bike shorts thing was coming (why?) and have actually seen them in the stores–it was a look I thought it would take awhile to trickle into retail. I would entertain tie-dye for a t-shirt.

I have some reservations about neon, but I have learned never to say never. Besides, I love color so I may be sporting it soon enough.

Oh I remember the 80 being full of neon and lace! Now that I am older I do not think of myself as really “trendy”. I guess it’s because I do not get out much. I work alone in an office all day everyday. We go shoping or to dinner on weekends but never go anywhere I can make a fashion statement. I woud love to have a place to dress up too. I try to stay with the styles of the seasons. However, I have found myself loveing the boho/beachy fashion lately.

Yes, lots of lace and neon! I think i was more into the lace then too. I love some boho styles too, the comfort and easy going style does appeal to me.

Honestly, I don’t like the neon or the bike shorts trends either. I don’t see myself ever wearing those but I don’t like to say “never” as I might change my mind in the future but as for a close future, it’s a no from me haha

I’m not sure the tie dye look is one for me but I’m pretty open to trying and incorporating some of the other trends. The spicy colors will be fun and you will look great in them! Have a wonderful weekend friend!
