Stylish Monday – How We Wear Green

Hello Ladies

Today I am joining other fashionable ladies in styling our theme for Stylish Monday. This month, we style Green. I have no shortage of the color in my closet but decided on olive for this particular day.

Wearing Green

Olive greens and a rich tone called “Brown Granite”  are showing online and in stores as chosen colors from the Pantone Color Insititute. I would be wearing it as I love greens especially with my red hair. I’m part Irish, so it seems to go hand in hand.

“The origins of the wearing of green clothing in the U.S. on St. Patrick’s Day and for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in general date back to the 19th century, when waves of Irish immigrants came to America looking for better job opportunities, especially after the Great Famine of the 1840s-50s, and began wearing green and carrying Irish flags along with American flags as a point of pride for their home country.” TIME credit*

Why are we attracted to the color green? “Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety” One of my favorite places for serenity and peace is the woods, as I love to hike and be out in nature. So, wearing green, for me, is natural 🙂

I also read that you should be prepared to be “pinched” if you don’t wear green on St Patrick’s Day in the US, as it was thought that by wearing green on this day, that you would be invisible to Leprachans. Those who didn’t wear green would be visible and thus, pinched by the little ‘chan.

My Outfit

I received this scarf, from H&M, in the mail, after seeing it on other bloggers wish list. The soft pastel pink mixed with yellow and green could be paired with much in my closet, so it was a steal at $10!

I love the mix of olive and some pastels and decided on wearing this olive long buttoned cardigan, over my olive cargos, with a light pink shell underneath. I suppose I could have unbuttoned it to show the shell, but you get the idea. I was looking for a casual outfit, as I would be wearing some fashionable sneakers with this look. My Zara sneakers are years old, but these  slip ons sneakers are pretty cute as well!  My cardigan was bought through Poshmark, but here are several I like as well. ( cardigan, cardigan)

I could have been bolder with green, as I have some brighter greens in my closet, but do love pine greens, olive, sage, and shades of this nature. Speaking of green, I have my eye on a pair of paper-bag waist pants in olive for Spring.

My favorite  fun sneakers from Zara 2 yrs ago. I am on the lookout for some platform chuck taylors too 🙂

Love the way you have styled olive green. It suits your coloring so well. Loved the story about the leprechauns on St Patrick’s Day. My husband’s parents were Irish and his mother always brought everyone shamrock on St Patrick’s Day. Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday!

I like green but can you believe every time I wear something bright green, I’m in a bad mood all day? Not sure why that is. If I wear green it has to be more of a mossy or Army green.
