07 Nov Sustainable Melissa Booties from Vivaia Shoes
Vivaia Melissa Perforated Booties
I’ve had my eye on these booties for a bit. The Melissa bootie is perforated and has a cool design for the block heel.
I wrote before about the company, Vivaia shoes, and how I loved that they were both sustainable and eco-friendly. In an age, where fast fashion comes and goes and new items are bought constantly, Vivaia is a company that I can appreciate. Each pair of shoes or boots is made with 6 recycled plastic bottles.
If you don’t think you could make a difference, being one person, imagine if everyone thought that way! Its like voting, you may be the one person that makes a difference!
These beautiful woven boots with an architectural heel, I received them in my usual size 8. They are not only stylish but are breathable as well. The ankle boot itself, molds to your foot, and the elastic at the top does not squeeze or pinch. You certainly could wear these with dresses (as I did here) skirts, or jeans. Really, they would be the most versatile bootie. I like that they are perforated, light, and not heavy.
I certainly would have added a fun printed tight with this look, but I can not wear tights at the moment. If you use this look as inspiration, try adding a fun checked or textured tight to the look for visual interest.
Here are the details from the Vivaia site:
“Square-toe boots 5.5 cm heel/ 2.16” heel 13cm shaft height/5.11″ shaft height Natural Artemisia Insole Breathable and soft uppers made from plastic bottles Anti-slip, carbon-free rubber outsole outsoles Packaged with 100% recycled cardboard “
I love what this brand stands for, and the various styles they offer from flats, heels, boots and loafers, not to mention other accessories The comfort is there in a knit style as well as the supportive outsole.
The Melissa also comes in 4 other colors. I was tempted to buy the camel-colored ones to go with neutrals, but they were sold out at the time I love a great LBD, especially when it is a sweater dress I bought on Mango outlet a few years ago. I have to be in the mood for all black and when i am , I usually add a warmer tone near my face. This suede moto has seen many outings, and the textured Teddy Blake bag, was meant to be with this look.
These shoes are great for ladies that have bunions. The fiber stretches and leaves room for the bunion, making the shoe more comfortable. My mom is very hard to fit and satisfy when it comes to shoes, and she liked these.

To those inquiring, I am doing a bit better lately. The Gabapentin and the Pelvic Floor PT are the cornerstones of this condition. I sit on a cushion when I have to sit, try not to sit for long periods, and have been having lower pain levels recently. ( I don’t want to jinx things!). Every day I do stretches, diaphramatic breathing, and play calming music to do just that, calm the nervous system. I will continue PT after the Holidays as well, but it is day by day.
