Tartan Blazer with JBrand Lovestory Flared Jeans

Morning friends,

I hope to do a post on my favorite denim in various styles and have been wanting to style these Lovestory JBrand jeans for a while now. With the selection of styles out there, you can have fun with flares like I am showing you today.

At Home

So, how was your weekend? We went to at Home, a place similar to Home Goods with a lot more square feet! I could go crazy with decorating there! I have difficulty walking and standing on those types of warehouse floors, all concrete. If I can keep moving, I do better, so I looked and browsed the aisles and saw so many wonderful decor pieces for Christmas along with home decor. We didn’t go crazy, but I did buy some Christmas pillows for our Living Room, and some metal reindeer for the mantle. I need to find some lit garland with pinecones, as our tree is more “woodland-inspired”.

Plaid and JBrand

More plaid this week on the blog, today a popular Scottish pattern of blue and green tartan. I bought this blazer a few years ago from Anthropologie. How did I make it work with the jeans? I balanced the look of the fuller flare with a more fitted upper body. The green blouse and plaid blazer are fitted with a buttoned-up look and puffed sleeves.

The JBrand jeans are a lower rise than I am used to but was reminded of the days I used to wear True Religion and other designer denim with a lower rise. The longer green blouse underneath the jacket is worn to cover the lower rise. These jeans were quite popular when flares were big in fashion. Now, I think there are so many choices, it is fun to wear different jean styles dependant on your mood. I bought these jeans on Poshmark, where I have purchased many of my designer jeans, and for a mere fraction of the cost – I paid $25! You do take a chance, but if they didn’t fit, I would just resell.

I do love the 70s vibe with flares, and because they are a wider style at the bottom – your eyes are drawn to the width of the jeans Pair them with a fitted blazer, as I have done hear or a dressy blouse that is more streamlined. Perhaps a styled lighter cashmere sweater would dress up the jeans and keep you cozy and warm. With flares like this, I like to wear a heel, and you want them long enough to see just a bit of the heel and the pointed toe- another way to elongate the look.

I love your tartan jacket! It looks great with the gorgeous green blouse. I’ve been looking for a traditional red tartan jacket but now I’m tempted to get a green and blue one too! Thanks for linking up!

Hi Jess! I haven’t made it to At Home store yet. I know there is one about 30 minutes away, but the Home Goods is 5 so that’s where I tend to go. Need to make up there sometime. You did a beautiful job styling your jacket with your flared jeans. I’m not a low rise girl anymore either, but a longer top to cover the rise is a great way to wear them!

HI Mel! I know, At Home is more like 30 minutes from our house too and HomeGoods is one I enjoy going to. Thank you, glad you like the outfit! These are my only pair of low rise jeans I have , as well as flares, and they are fun from time to time. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I love a nice pair of jeans with a blazer. It dresses up a casual look. I love this outfit and you look fabulous in green. I just recently found a red plaid blazer while thrifting and it will be making it into my Christmas outfit series in the next couple weeks. Looking lovely! Have a great evening. – Amy

The blue and green tartan blazer is fabulous with your hair! (My hair used to be that color….) I love the tailored look of the blazer too.

I feel you about the concrete floors. Standing is no good for me either, and I tend to keep strolling.

Thanks so much! I always loved green, all the different shades.. Oh, neat another red head! former… 🙂 yes, it is actually pretty exhausting with hypermobility to be able to stand or walk slowly. That is why I usually shop on line, with the occasional stop at the store.

This outfit is a nice balance of dressy and casual. I like the flared jeans for a change. You’re fortunate that the length was good for you–of the ones I’ve tried on, lately, they are quite long and would require hemming.

      Hi Kim!
Thank you ! I wanted a bit of a change too. I have mostly skinny jeans in my closet but love to change it with bootcut and now flares every now and then.

I think flare leg jeans are just so flattering. Your tartan plaid jacket is a great topper! Of course your signature brooch is the perfect accessory!
