The Jean Skirt – A Closet Staple for Anytime of Year

One piece you want in your closet, the jean skirt, is a closet staple you can wear year-round. This Loft skirt is among my favorites, as it is soft, has buttons down the front and an a-line cut. Kind of a 70’s vibe!

Well, it has been raining a whole lot the week we had to take pictures. Not easy for the Fashion blogger lifestyle. We have a more flexible schedule, however, with hubby working from home, so you go between the showers. This morning, before my Dry needling appt, we actually saw something that resembled the sun! There was a glow, a bit of heat, mmm, could it have been the sun?

Outfit

Ruffles, and tweed, and denim Oh my! I’ve had this tweed blazer from Anthropologie for years now, bought on Poshmark, it is a favorite.  I wore it with a different faux leather pencil skirt here.

The colors in the jacket are navy, rust, and camel, which enabled me to style it with my H&M camel mock turtleneck underneath. I’ve shopped my closet for this look and tend to do so more in January and February as I look to add some more Spring clothes to my closet.

I wear this jean skirt often as I like the feel and how it has a bit of a retro vibe with the buttons down the front. I will wear it in the Spring with some cute sandals and stylish tops. This is a staple that worn any time of year looks stylish. I’ve had a few denim skirts in my days- long, shorter and in between. I like this length as I think it really works for everyone. I found this jean skirt from LOFT that is nearly identical- just the perfect style! ( It’s 50% OFF too! )

I need to stock up on more patterned tights for the Winter, but to keep my legs warm and keep the leg line going, I wore my OTK boots in rust. I love a look that says stylish but not stuffy!

Think of how many ways you can style this skirt for this season-

Wear it in this style with a blazer, sweater, and tall boots

Style a feminine blouse with a different shade of denim for a denim on denim look with booties

Wear a chunky knit sweater half-tucked with a pair of on-trend combat boots.

Style a lighter plaid blazer, as I wore in this post, with tights and a pair of block heels.

Wear the skirt with a turtleneck and add a longer kimono for a rocker style.

Try a silk blouse, blazer and tall boots with a jean skirt.

Going for a trendy look? Wear a faux leather top with your jean skirt!

Weekend Fun

Did you ever think maybe Handel may have written the “Hallelujah Chorus” at the end of January, excited that the month was near an end!? 🙂

By the weekend I was ready to escape! Hubby usually works from home remotely but had to be on-site this week, leaving me at home most days. You know, cabin fever? I am glad I have the pups to keep me company! We went to The Cottage after not being there for a month, we missed our friends there. I love a good chat with the regulars, and just enjoying an excellent bottle of vino with hubby. We talked to some guys who had been to Costa Rica earlier in the month and I was living vicariously through his pictures he took, wishing I could transport myself~

We had an estimate on our floors- replacing cream-colored linoleum floors ( the bane of my household!) with Luxury Vinyl. I joked with the contractor and said, what a marketing ploy, put the word “Luxury” in front of any word and it is in high demand! We would replace the Master, guest and powder room with dark mahogany looking wood planks in LV. In the kitchen, I would have to consider a print or color to go with the rest of our room.

Outfit

Tweed plaid blazer- Poshmark/Anthropologie

jean skirt- Loft ( 50% OFF! ) similar style

camel sweater- H&M

OTK boots- 2 yrs ago Sole Society – similar boots

designer bag- Treesje

Have a wonderful day!

Beautiful! I love the copper / rust with the denim – and of course with your gorgeous flaming hair! I don’t think I’ve seen copper colored boots before! I love it.

It’s amazing what new flooring can give to a space. When we bought our condo, it had been used as a vacation rental. It had beige carpet, (and beige walls). We replaced it with laminate wood flooring. Such a difference!

Those kinds of home projects are always so nice when they are done. Not always fun to do them, but definitely worth it.
I just love a denim skirt. Especially in the winter, my tights don’t stick to it as much as they stick to my knit skirts!! Ha..it would help if I wore a slip with my knit skirts, I guess!!
I just love this jacket Jess!!!

Jess, I love these colors on you. A denim skirt is so versatile and I like your suggestions for other ways to wear it. I have been looking for a different denim skirt, as I have a dark wash pencil one, but would really like something like this one you have on here. We have a Loft store not too far away, so maybe I should take a look there. Thanks for the suggestions! Have a great day. – Amy

I’ve been a denim skirt fan forever! I found a skirt similar to this while thrifting awhile back–my daughter immediately snagged it! I have a question for how you shop Poshmark, Jess. For instance, on this jacket, did you know you wanted tweed? Did you just want a jacket and search Anthro and find this one? Or, a brown jacket? Curios since you have such good luck.

I bet you would find a great jean skirt you would love. I would be tempted to buy the one from Loft, but it is nearly my same style. Id like a white denim skirt for Spring. It is very dark here lately and im hoping the weather improves soon. I hope we get the floors done this year, we are just pricing at the moment!

Such great colors on you, Jess! I love that plaid jacket. It is so cool. And I have been wanting a denim skirt with the buttons down the front like this but since I have 3 denim skirts already, I am committed to only getting another one if I can find it second hand. Let my hunt continue! Fabulous outfit, my friend. I hope the rain goes away soon!
