THT- A Modern, Sporty Way to Style a `Dress for Fall

I’m showing you a more modern, sporty take on wearing a dress today for Fall.

A Modern Sporty Way to Style a Dress for Fall

You remember THIS POST on retro sneakers?

Welcome back, baby!

I remember the Reeboks that I wore to step class at the gym, the Chuck Taylors I wore for a date, and some of the other sneakers that were piled into my closet.

When I saw these Rag and Bone sneakers during the Nordstrom Sale, I was in love. I am sure my subconscious knew that I must have had a similar pair back in the day! I loved the colors and the sleek profile. Nothing clunky here.

However, as part of the “Sale” they were still $200. I may spend that on a pair of Italian boots or loafers ( or a bit more) but not sneakers.

It does seem like I have been buying up sneakers lately though, due to Pudendal Neuralgia, so they came at the right time.

I found these looking up “retro sneakers” as they were on Zappos, for I think, one day, at $100. So, I snapped those up!

The colorway that I was eyeing- the rust/orange was not available, so I thought to pick a neutral. This Rag and Bone shoe is a great shade o darker tan, with a mustard yellow design. Just to note, if you have wide feet, I wouldn’t recommend these shoes. I have an average medium with foot, and found that I could have gone up 1/2 size more, but the 8.5 (which is a half-size up from my normal 8) was fine. I just couldn’t wear socks with them. So, keep this tip in mind, if you find you are fancying this retro sneaker.

As always, I am loving blazers. I am particurly fond of checked or plaid blazers. H&M is another great place for blazers, just read about the sizing on their site.

So, an open Fal blazer, with a basic chestnut colored dress and retro sneakers are a fun way to issue in Fall, especially if you aren’t wearing boots or booties yet.

What’s Happening?

Well, we got home last evening after spending a few days in Asheville. A relaxing trip that my hubby also thought would take my mind off of my health issues for a bit. (You can’t help but be reminded if it carrying a gigantic black cushion wherever you go to sit on. I used to say to my friend, people must think my *** is made of gold, and I must have a cushion to sit on before my butt touches the chairs!  Haha.

I may try and do a short recap about Asheville on Friday then.

Otherwise, not much on the home front, other than a bazillian doctor’s appointments set up. When you know the treat of the day is your PT appointment, you must lead a really interesting life!

So, there will be specialists and nerve blocks in the near future.

Do you like to wear sneakers with dresses? How do you style them for the Fall?

I love the style of those sneakers! They look so cool with the dress and blazer. I would love to wear sneakers with a dress but I have big feet and not particularly long legs, so I look like a clown!

I could easily get “a thing” for retro trainers but I must resist! White trainers seem a bit old fashioned now with dresses, your trainers are bang on trend! (By the way, our new king always carries his own cushion apparently!) x

Love the sneakers with the work dress—it’s very Working Girl, which is one of my all-time favorite movies!

They are- just can’t go all day in them. They are a bit narrow toward the front, so I am glad I went up a 1/2 size.

What a cute outfit! I love the colors, and those retro sneakers are just perfect with the mustard dress. Ha! I hear you about the exciting life of appointments. LOL! Although my mom and I did book one to get our nails done, so there’s that.

Very cool styling of these super cute sneakers, Jess! I think you should tell people that you arse is gold and carry your cushion around with pride! I have started bringing my yoga cushion with me to certain events especially if I might be siting on the ground for some reason. We must protect our bodies (and butts) and give them whatever comfort they need. I hope you find some relief soon, my friend. Sending healing energy your way!

I don’t wear sneakers with dresses often, but loved these when I saw them – as they are sleeker than some i see with dresses.

Love the outfit mix here, I can wear sneakers with trousers but sadly my legs are just too short to pull it off with a dress.

Oh Jess, those sneakers!!! I love them! I couldn’t quite get myself to buy them so I ended up with the Target version. I’m just so happy that sneakers are so fashionable right now. They add edge and feel good so it’s a win-win.
Glad you got away to Asheville and I look forward to your recap. We are awaiting a hurricane, a bit like being a sitting duck!
