THT-How to Style Wide Leg Jeans – These are Under $40!

How do you style wide leg jeans? If you are interested and wanted a pair, I’ll give you some tips!

How to Style Wide Leg Jeans

Wide leg jeans are hot this year! You can see them at most retailers and they offer a new sillouette in case you wear tired of your skinny jeans, or just wanted a change of pace.

I like to have a variety of cuts in my jean wardrobe, and always seemed to like this style. You have seen me on the blog, style this much worn pair of wide leg cropped jeans, but I was on the search for the full length version

I found these wide leg jeans at Old Navy, on-line and loved the idea of an extra high waist ( as I am long waisted) and the wide leg. The extra high waist is not too extra ( its not under my armpits! ) but is great if you are someone with a small waist. Not only were these a good style, but they are ON SALE and under $40!

The material here is 99% cotton and 1 % elastane, which is the same as my Madewell Perfect Vintage jeans. I love the feel of real denim and didn’t want a totally “rigid” jean (100% cotton). So, this is weighty and feels like jeans, as opposed to a super stretchy legging type jean. The slight stretch adds a little give. I first bought these in my regular size 4, but when I got them, the hips and legs were too big. I returned those and got a size down, and they were a much better fit. Jeans with more cotton will also stretch a bit.

These are also a great pair that contain Lyocell, a soft fabric.

The main thing to consider with wide leg jeans is proportions.

Styling these wide leg jeans

  • Wear a more fitted top or blazer to balance out proportions.
  • A bodysuit would be a great pairing as the sleekness of the top and more voluminous bottom works well.
  • A button down tied at the waist.
  • Wear them with a heel to continue the leg line.
  • Converse sneakers give a fun, streetstyle laid back look.
  • In the summer, a simple black or white tank will let the jeans take center stage, but will look effortless
  • Tuck in a floral romantic blouse for Spring with some strappy heels

My plaid blazer is H&M, as is my black turtleneck. A great place for some basics. I wear these Dolce Vita croc print boots alot and am carrying my favorite bag from Teddy Blake to give the look some rich color.

What’s Going On?

I wanted to style some pants and jeans on the blog here, as I am sure most of you are wearing these items, With my neuralgia, I am not yet at the point that I can wear these, so we just do it for photoshoots. The nerve is a bit irritated if I wear them, but the wide leg is a bit looser, so better than a skinny to wear anyhow. I am slowly making progress and learning strengthening and pelvic stabilization exercises in order for the muscles around the pelvis to to more of the work without recruiting as much of the pelvic floor. I have been going out a bit on the weekends and use my cushion to sit. I have good and bad days at the moment but hope to improve as the months go on.

I’ve managed to get 10K followers on IG. If you don’t follow me, I would love it if you would. I can’t say it’s easy keeping up with the blog and social media, but so far, I’m doing what I can.

I got my eyebrows microbladed about 5 days ago, so I hope to do a post or video on that. There is a whole healing process, and they are still pretty dark. Will settle and lighten at the 2-week ish mark.

With things settling a bit, I will have more time to make it to your blogs and comment!

Have you tried wide leg jeans? Are you interested in different cuts of denim this year?

Those are so cute! I actually just got my first pair of wide leg trousers and I’m in love! I was always afraid to try them because I’m short (4’11”) and curvy. I definitely didn’t want to look shorter or wider but I’ve found that they are really flattering!!

Wide-legged trousers are some of my favourite styles! I love how easy they are to wear, and it’s great that you can buy them everywhere at the moment! I’ve been considering having my brows micro-bladed too. Would you recommend it?

I have a pair of wide leg pants that I wear to work sometimes. They are so comfy. I love wearing blazers with jeans lately. We are not allowed to wear tshirts in the office but I do anyway and just add a nice blazer.

You have styled these so well. I think it was Jodie who first introduced me to the idea of balancing looser fitting clothing with snugger fitting clothing. Had never really thought about it before but wide leg pants do look better with a sleeker fitting top. Goodness, you look pretty in that black. And it is such a good, deep black. I always shy away from black but I think as my hair becomes more silver-ha, gray!!-I might try wearing it more often. Great fitted blazer. Love Teddy Blake bags. If I win the lottery buying one is at the top of my list. Happy New Year, my beautiful friend.

These wide leg jeans look great on you, Jess! Thanks for the helpful tips on styling them. I wear straight leg and boot cut jeans, but have not had any luck finding wide legs that fit me. Maybe I will try these from Old Navy. Glad you are progressing with your treatment and feeling better!

You wear this style so well! I am short waisted so can’t do much of a high rise, a medium rise is better for me. These look so good on you, Jess!

I like the loose fit, especially with something more elegant as the blazer. I had my eyebrows microbladed 3 years ago. Its fantastic!
