Transitioning to Fall -2 Staples for Your Fall Closet

Happy Monday Ladies,

How was your weekend? We kept it pretty low key as I had blog work to get caught up on. I was a bit behind this week as I have dry needling and it has me down for a day or two to rest. We did go for a walk with the pups on a green way in town, a nice change of scenery.  Today I thought i would talk about two staples that will transition to Fall and are pieces that I will get much wear from in my closet. And loo, Laurie, I used hot rollers on my hair! 😉

Who doesn’t love bootie or boot season? As you have seen HERE, and HERE, there are plenty of booties out there for comfort and style, much more than there were years ago, when choosing comfortable boots/shoes meant orthopedic looking selections. I bought these camel suede booties from MANGO last year, as i loved the versatile style and the short block heel.

Neutral booties are one of those must haves for your Fall closet, as they can convert a “spring-summertime’ look into Fall, when the weather isn’t quite cold but you want to look in-season. Another staple for me is this denim skirt.  Just like jeans, the denim skirt is a year round piece, but can take me later into Fall with some textured tights.

Of course i am going to add my gold leaf brooch as a homage to the beginning of Fall.

For this transitional look, I decided to wear this peach floral blouse, denim skirt and booties to create a look that leads into Fall. The blouse with its golds, peaches, and brown can be worn year round, but add a cardigan or blazer or long duster  and the whole outfit looks more Fall like. So, if you are looking for some staples for your wardrobe, why not add:

  1. A denim skirt. They are trending now, but are always a classic piece. I loved this style as the denim is soft, the cut A-Line (flattering on everyone) and I loved the button down style. A denim skirt is a year round piece.
  2. Neutral booties- a pair of neutral booties can take you from summer into Fall. Also pair a more summery dress with a moto jacket and fall neutral booties. This will still keep you cool but get you ready as we head into Fall. Booties work with so many looks from dresses to skirts and jeans.

These are one of my favorite pairs of earrings. They are a vintage pair i picked up in a consignment shop in Charleston.

What staples do you have in your closet to lead into Fall? Also remember, Jambu is offering 20% off of any full priced fall shoes/boots using CODE STYLISH17. So if you are interested in the booties i have worn on the blog by this company, Go to www.jambu.com

Thank you Debbie! This top will be great for spring and fall. I will add a rust duster or cardigan for the cooler months and it can be worn alone on the warmer months. xx

Hi Jess ! Your jean skirt with the peach top and purse look so great on you. Where do you get all of your great purses from ? I live in Michigan and I just wondered where you get all of your great handbags. I am trying to find a nice black handbag. I have recently bought ( a few months ago ) 2 vince camuto handbags from hsn. They’re not black but so nice. I can’t seem to find a black purse that I love. You look great in all of your outfits as usual! Have a great day and feel good my friend ! 🙋💄👢👠👡👞👟👗👜👛👝

Hello Debbie! Thank you! I would add a blazer or fall cardigan with this look when the weather changes. i have bought some of my purses from Ebay, but you do want to make sure they are authentic. This is Rebecca Minkoff, a designer i do love with reasonable price points. I have several black handbags, i have shared on the blogs, and find crossbody bags are more comfortable for me these days. Vince Camuto has some lovely bags out now. I appreciate the well wishes! xx
