28 May Turning Heads Linkup – Bright Colors – Wearing Shorts and Bright Pink

I have been enjoying wearing whites, neutral shades, olive and more spicy colors this Spring season. I do love the Pantone Color palette for Spring. Check out the Post on Pantone Colors for Spring 2019, if you missed it.  Today, however, I am wearing some bright colors as i was in the mood for some hot pink and floral shorts with yellow, navy and pink.

In PA

I am still in PA, Harleysville, to be exact, and nearly 16 years of visiting, and I have yet to see many Harleys. I used to “Ride like the wind” with my boyfriend in college. Ah, what a feeling!

Anyhow, where was I? We are enjoying family time with my husband’s parents, eating at an amazing seafood restaurant, and partaking in the annual Harleysville Memorial Day Parade- a parade of John Deer tractors, bikes, school marching bands and more. I just enjoy the conversation, as well as eating Dunkin Donut holes and coffee first thing in the morning.

Please do link up, as I will be visiting as best I can this week and will be taking a break from technology later in the summer when we go on our Summer beach trip. I will be returning home at the end of the week, so no post Friday.

Yeah, I am a rebel. Without a cause. I am going to wear shorts despite being 50 – almost 51. I think everyone should beat to the beat of their own drummer. Do what makes you happy. Don’t listen to fashion rules.

I sometimes think I would have made a good hippie in the 70s. I was born in ’68, so technically, I lived in the 70s, but I was a little kid. So, I am talking about being an adult in the 70s, when the music was the best, and things were more about peace and love. ( and pot) but a generation that felt free and expressive, that is something I strive to be.

Now, this outfit may not be everyone’s taste, but when it gets close to 90 degrees in the South, less clothing or the right material  is mandatory. Shorts are a necessity. I ‘ve had these shorts from Loft for years and the bright colors were what drew me to them. Later, I bought this “shell” in vibrant hot pink on Poshmark, and a lovely match was made!

Shorts

For Shorts, I like quality pairs that don’t feel like they are going to fall apart in several washes. Loft makes some nice quality shorts in varying lengths, These are 4 inches, but if you want longer, they are out there, just make sure the proportions are good when wearing longer shorts.

I don’t wear anything tight. I have sensitivity in my body, and my hubby will tell you, I just don’t like things that fit tight to my body. Don’t mean I wear loose and sloppy, but you want shorts to be comfortable and not ride up or give you that dreaded wedgie!

It’s all personal taste. Whatever you feel confident wearing, is what you should wear. I am fine with my legs, so I choose a shorter length. I also like elongating the leg, at times, and will wear shorts with a heeled espadrille, like these pale pink ones I received from Andre Assous. I feel a bit more “dressed up” that way.

If I want a more casual look, with a denim short, ( I wear them alot in the South) I may wear a pair of leather slides, which are trending big time right now.

My Mom will soon be visiting as we take her back home on our way back from PA. Lots of things planned while she visits in Charlotte.
