Turning Heads Linkup – Dark Olive Blouse with Jean Skirt

Loft olive blouse

Hello friends!

I hope you are well.

It is time for some neutrals today on the blog. I love wearing color, but also equally enjoy wearing some beautiful neutrals, especially in the summer.

My Outfit

Did you ever notice in pictures sometimes your makeup doesn’t show as well? I am working on putting more on for the camera, and really loved how this lipstick looked for today’s look. It was gifted to me with a package of other goodies from REALHER, in an orange-red shade. Typically, I go for more of the blue-red with my skin tone, but this surprised me how much I liked it! ( moral- try new shades!)

I love safari looks and look in soft neutrals for the summer months, and we are almost there. Spring kind of passed us by with all things Coronavirus, and we are entering warmer months. This day we took photos, it was 85 and hot! We actually got to experience a bit of Spring this year, which isn’t always common for Charlotte. Many years, there may be a few weeks of Spring- like weather, then boom! it’s summer!

Finding shade under a tree, hubby photographed me in a new dark olive blouse with flutter sleeves, just enough of a touch to make it interesting. I wanted to wear one of my favorite scarves from Mango, my snakeskin scarf, and find that I may reach for smaller neck scarves instead of necklaces in the summer.

Gold bauble earrings adorned my ears, as my ever– popular straw circle bag was the perfect accompaniment.

My favorite button- down jean skirt Is styled and worn with my new tan-brown croc strappy sandals. I love the heel on these and the strappy style, which is in now and very elegant.

Weekend

I mentioned yesterday that we had a great Spanish Tapas meal with my sister and niece coming up again and sitting in the yard. She brought a delicious Grenache, which is one of my favorite fuller- bodied reds. We went for a 3 mile hike in the woods near our house too, with the pups. I think people get a kick out of seeing Shih tzus on a long walk in the woods, as you don’t always see the smaller dogs.

I’ve also been able to now get my dry needling treatments again! Today is the day, so I will be wearing my mask, as well as my therapist. It is over an hour of needling, but boy do I need it! So thankful they can start up again.

You always look lovely in neutrals Jess and you have a great denim skirt! I apply a vivid pink but on camera it looks nowhere near as bright.

Yay for being able to go back to your dry needling appointment again. I am sure it felt like a lifetime! We are still waiting for the end of the month and see what phase we are on. I love neutrals and colors alike too but my closet contains more black! I need to go after colors like olive because it is a beauty! I just love how it pop against your denim skirt albeit muted than say orange. Btw, your leopard scarf is a nice touch to your look! I can’t get enough. I hope you are doing well and happy Tuesday!

Goodness, I’d love to style steal this. Would you believe I don’t have a leopard print scarf? Hmm, that may not deter me–haha!

Jess, I have that top in my cart at Loft! Lol! You’ve styled it beautifully and I love the lipstick. Yes–try new things!! We used to take our Schauzer and Cairn Terrier on the trails with us and people were surprised, too! Hey, all dogs love to walk and see the outdoors, right?! Our newest shelter dog, Lulu, has a lot of French Bulldog in her and she gets very hot so we try to find shady places. But she loves to run! Lol! I’m so glad you are starting up your treatments again. Take care.

See! We have similar tastes! I loved the shade of green and I have a lot of prints, so I was due for a solid shade. So true! The little dogs can do it too! Aw, that is so good to hear with your pup. My boy, Gibson, loves to run in the grass! Take care as well.

Hi Jess. Finally getting back to checking my fav blogs after a hellish winter of packing and moving. I can see you’re still as chic and elegant as ever, despite a pandemic! Love the olive top with the denim skirt. The little ruffles at the shoulders are a nice touch. Isn’t it nice we can at least still go places and enjoy nature? And glad you’re now able to get back to your therapist. I’m sure it will be a welcome relief!

I never would have considered olive as a Spring color – I always think of Fall and Winter, but I love it. Olive and beige pants are my favorites to wear all the time.

I love the leopard and olive together and that lipstick is a great colour on you! I don’t wear makeup most of the time so I never have it on in the photos but I do notice if I forget to put my lipgloss on before I leave the house as I look a little paler in photos – maybe if I wore makeup missing the colour on my lips wouldn’t be so noticeable, haha!

    Thanks for the link up!

Hope that you are having a great week 🙂

      Hi Pamela!
So true! I wear my jeans shorts and skirts year round. Thank you! I am going to have to try different shades and experiment a bit. At first I thought it was too bright, but I really love it now.

Great outfit, Jess! I love that denim skirt. I am so glad that you are able to get your dry needling! And you must be feeling a bit better to go hiking. That is awesome! Equally awesome that you got to spend time with your sister and niece. My sister was just talking about coming to visit me but she is still a little fearful to travel so far with everything not being fully opened up yet.
