30 Nov Turning heads Linkup- Green Velvet for the Holidays
Velvet is one of the most luxurious fabrics that we think about around this time of year.
Velvet for the Season
I just love the soft, plush feel of velvet and have a number of velvet jackets I bought secondhand. I also have velvet dresses and a few tops. If you have seen the Tudors, you know it is a fabric often associated with royalty. King Richard II of England directed in his will that his body should be clothed in velveto in 1399. *wiki
Here I have taken this emerald green velvet blazer, worn a lace camisole, and waxed black denim jeans for a fun Holiday date night look or party look. The gold and green brocade clutch handmade by Coastal Clutch and gifted this Spring, adds a nice touch of gold with the color and leaf brooch. A bit more intricate fabric for the Holiday.
Time to get out your velvet dresses, tops or jackets and dress them up with some metallics, faux leather or perhaps sequined skirts or pants.
I mentioned yesterday I am at my mom’s house in Pittsburgh visiting unitl December 9th. We had a blast over Thanksgiving, playing Phase 10, all contributing the meal, helping my mom, and I made my new Spiced Apple Cider Rum cocktail that they enjoyed. The food was scrumptious and it was a great time seeing family.
Did you shop the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales? I had finished my shopping by then, but am looking for a few things for the house. Otherwise, I didn’t go crazy! Tomorrow we will hit the Strip District where many small businesses sell pasta, biscotti, seafood, and other foods. I always enjoy going there. It’s a Pittsburgh landmark.
blog blooper! Hubby and I were making each other laugh. Can’t remember about what but he caught me mid laugh. 😉

Posted at 13:34h, 01 DecemberSuch a cute look for the holidays! I like that it is more subtle and wearable than some of those full sequin, glam looks. I just thrifted a full velvet dress that I am super excited about – it’s such a nice texture! I like your pretty purse as well.

Posted at 09:57h, 01 DecemberSuch a pretty jacket! Love the color. I splurged only on myself during the Black Friday sales. I was already done shopping for everyone else by then. Shoes from L’Artiste are my guilty pleasure.

Posted at 18:55h, 30 NovemberI am such a fan of velvet, but I purged most of it when we moved to Phoenix thinking it would be too hot. Silly me. Luckily I kept a green velvet dress that I’ll be showcasing soon.
XOXO

Posted at 16:37h, 30 NovemberVelvet is so lush and rich in color! I don’t own any velvet pieces but I always admire them for their stunning look. Your velvet blazer is absolutely eye catching and it pairs so well with your black trousers. Enjoy your visit with your mom. My parents were in town this past weekend and it was nice to see them. I hope we can visit them during my son’s Christmas break. Keeping my fingers crossed this entire Covid mess does not get in the way! I hope your week is off to a great start and happy Tuesday!
