Turning Heads Linkup – Lilac Dress and Silk Scarf

Spring is in the air! I am just waiting to sit outside on our deck and work on the blog. Nothing like waking up to the sound of birds chirping and sunshine. Today I am styling a dress from my closet, a lilac sheath with a silk scarf and peachy heels for some colorful Springtime ensemble.

Boohoo! I love my older version for the blog link up and now I got a notice that I have to join the pack and use the same inlinkz format! If it ain’t broke! So, just so you know…

Spring Cleaning

As many ladies do, it has been some Spring cleaning done in the house, both to the wardrobe and to the different rooms that just need some special cleaning once the sun hits. Such fun has been had that I have been taking out the old toothbrush to the baseboards and assessing just what I am tired of looking at, in terms of older Spring/Summer clothes.

I do this each Season and tend to hold on to some things longer than others when a top or dress has been purposely neglected and not worn for years. It was time to do some: Spring cleaning! Both my hubby and I had gone through the closets, each looking for things to donate to “Goodwill” and in my case, partly, things to sell on Poshmark.

I would joke with my hubby saying which of his 6 shirts was he willing to part with? Or how do guys get dressed? Do they all pick up a shirt and ask their wives ” Does this smell?” making this an item to wear for the day, or yet to salvage another day if the answer is no.

Spring Shopping

I have gone through a bit of a transition, I love my florals for Spring an Summer, ( see yesterday’s post on Stylish Monday ladies styling for Spring)  have found many a gingham, plaid, spicy color or solid that I love as well, and have added some pieces to this upcoming season. It is nice to add some things here and there, adding a bit of excitement and joy to getting dressed again. If you are wondering what I have been craving for Spring, read the post- My Spring Wish List. :-)

I’m a very careful shopper, and I ask ” Do I love it?”: Will it go with many things in my closet?

Today’s look is a favorite, as it encompasses comfort and style, the two things I will not part with. This silky, stretchy sheath, in a lavender shade, is a great layering piece or piece to wear with a Spring jacket, as I have here- my Gap jean jacket, I bought on Poshmark ( thrifting site). Here is a lilac dress I found on Amazon, that would be pretty for Spring. I like these current jean jackets found on The Gap. ( Here, Here)

I love a silk scarf, and this lavender floral silk scarf made a wonderful addition to my closet. This is no longer in stock, but I love this one from Etsy!

I just love the way the sun glistens on my hair in these photos! Thanks, hubby! It was a “good hair day”!

Speaking of my hubby…Next week is my hubby’s 5-0 so I’ll be sharing what we are doing for his special day.

LETS HAVE SOME FUN AND PAR-TY! PLEASE COMMENT ON AT LEAST 2 OTHER BLOGS IN THIS LINKUP. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENTS, THEY MAKE MY DAY!

I don’t think I’ve seen you ever have a bad hair day Jess. You look lovely in lilac.

Spring cleaning hasn’t started here and I’m in no rush. I’m sure when the sun and warmer temps do eventually show up I might change my mind but I ususally overestimate and underdeliver when it comes to deep cleaning. I’d rather be outside enjoying the day than cleaning. Ideally I’d like to have enough money to pay someone else to come in and do it but as I need to go through stuff and throw items out it isn’t practical.

Hello my friend. I love this lavender dress on you and the peachy heels are a beautiful compliment . Lol, you are so right about how easy it is for men to dress. That’s one thing I do envy about men. However, we have a lot more fun with our wardrobe . Don’t we? The silk scarf is dreamy!

Firstly, Happy Big Birthday to Hubs for next week.
I love the ” does this smell ” selection process, got me LAIR – laughing as I read, just made that up!!!
Great outfit, the lilac really complements your colouring.
Yes, I’ve been in a serious spring deep cleanse too, but mine’s going have to carry on through April – at least.
Have a great week, Jess. Hugs, Mary.

Beautiful Spring look! I love the lavender with the denim, and the scarf is really pretty. I don’t like the new inlinkz either, it was fine they way it was. I really need to have a Spring clean of my closet…or rather closets…they’re bursting at the seams!

Cute shoes Jess! Love the lilac dress and your scarf. This outfit screams Spring! I have yet to clean my closet. I don’t think I can get rid of too many things as I don’t have a big closet and while I have added new things since I started blogging there’s not an item I want to donate just yet.

Hi Jess! I’ve been doing a bit of spring cleaning myself and moving some furniture around as well! It’s nice to shake things up a bit every now and then! I’m loving the lavender and denim jacket and you are so great with your accessories! I’ve been thinking I would start a poshmark on my blog because I have so many nice things that I no longer wear and don’t just want to take to a thrift store! Have you sold on Poshmark?

Hi Suzanne! That sounds good, sometimes we need a fresh change in our houses too! Glad you like the outfit. This is one scarf that has gotten alot f wear. Yes, I have many items on Poshmark, and will add more.
I have sold on Poshmark. If you do create a closet, let me know, as I would probably buy from you, i love your taste! I never find consigment or thrift stores worth it, as you get so very little. If anything, I donate other than Posh. 🙂

Lilac is not a color I have in my closet, which I don’t know why! It is so pretty and perfect for the Spring. I may need to change that. 🙂 I love this dress on you and the shoes with it. I am going to go out to the outlets next week and do some Spring shopping (I can’t wait!) and I also hope to organize my closet over to the Spring next week!

I love your dress and shoes! I live in a 1950’s house and have tiny closets. The season change is a lot of work because I have to move shoes and clothes from my bedroom downstairs to one upstairs. The good thing is I clean out and get rid of things that I don’t wear pretty often.

Spring cleaning: going through the boys closets and weeding out things that are old or that I do not like. Between hand me downs and other things, it accumulates! Spring shopping? After yesterdays 2 purses and scarf at a local boutique, no more for April!
That is a pretty dress and that scarf just is perfect!

That dress is so pretty on you! I love the scarf too. I have been wanting to add a little lilac or lavender to my closet – just ordered a duster yesterday that Andrea shared, it’s from Amazon and I can’t wait to get it! I admire your shopping attitude and I am working to make better decisions and add fewer pieces to my closet. I am making a list of all the things I purchase this month so I can really analyze what I’m spending. Baby steps!!!

    Good morning friend!
I cleaned out my closet in March when I also do a heavy spring cleaning of my entire house.
I actually moved vintage clothes to the front because so many of my clothes are now trending! I have tie dyed and utility clothes that are at least 10 years old plus my vintage tweed and Chanel pieces are back in fashion!
Love the recycling of fashion trends!

Love the lavender color on you! I don’t wear that color but I know it’s a spring color!

    Hugs,
