Turning Heads Linkup- Linen Dress Styled Over Pants

Hello friends,

I thought today I would wear something different, as I bought this blue linen dress from Zara last year, but didn’t have a chance to wear it on the blog. I will style it several ways, but today I thought i would pair it with white trousers and espadrilles for a fresh look. We had a fun weekend, going to a new Vineyard, Roaring River Vineyard, where we ate lunch overlooking the river and scenic overlook. I had the “difficult job” of doing the wine tasting indoor, as we had the pups and hubby had to watch them.  I tasted 6 wines, 2 rather unique- The Taminette ( had at one other vineyard- a white with a tinge of sweetness) and the Chambourcin red wine, a bit tarty for my taste, but rich. I ended up selecting a Viogneir, a white wine with some citrus and a medium body. It was a good day overall!

Before I talk about that, I want to mention something that happened about a month ago that was quite exciting. I was contacted by a casting agent from Chicos about auditioning for a Fall Campaign with women over 40. I was quite excited, but the time frame was short when it came to submitting a video answering questions that they had regarding aging and fashion. I had 3 days and decided that I was going to submit a video to answer those questions as well as turn in 4 posed pictures they asked for. Let’s just say I won’t be vlogging anytime soon! It took about 7 takes to wear I was relaxed and comfortable! Long story short, emails went back and forth, I sent social media stats, my height and dress size.. and eventually made it to a certain level. I didn’t make the final cut, but it was an interesting experience. Just thought I would share, as it was a fun opportunity and I hope to collaborate with the brand in the future. Now on to the topic of my Fashion Post….

How many of you wear a longer shirt dress over pants? Is this a style that you prefer or do you like wearing the shirt dress as is? I have also seen shirt dresses over tailored shorts and think what a cool look, something different. It has been fun trying some different looks on the blog, whether or not they will be something I wear in real life, it is fun trying out ideas, as that is the basis for creativity.

As the weather gets hotter, I think this would be too warm to wear, but in the Spring, while it still is in the 70s works well and adds some additional umph to an outfit. I styled this look with my new Sylca Designs ocean blue statement necklace. I had eyed this necklace, going back and forth, realizing that I should just buy it! I would have plenty to style it with, and if you saw my post , last Monday, it took a casual look of jeans and top to another level.

The white lace espadrilles from ALDO were bought on Poshmark, and I found them for a mere $20! Exciting to get a steal. I want to get a cognac wide leather belt to style with my shirt dresses as I am not that fond of the cloth belts that often come with them. I bought this white bucket bag on Zara as well, as I have been looking for a white bag for Spring for awhile.

I hope to get to the pool this week, as it is just a walk down the street and a fun way to cool off and read!

Outfit details: Zara shirt dress ( lst yr, love this, and this), white trousers ( Ann Taylor, Love these pants ), white bucket bag, Zara , Sylca Designs necklace, Espadrilles: Poshmark, like these and these

Tell me, how would you style a shirtdress? Are you a fan of pants under dresses?

I love this look! Blue and white is such a great combo for summer, and I love dresses over pants. You look fabulous!

And how exciting that you were approached by Chico’s. Answering questions on video is hard! I think it definitely takes a lot of practice…

Hi Elle, thanks so much. I wanted to try something new , as I have not worn a dress over pants before. We joked, as I said, I’ll have to do the wine tasting, someone has to do it! ” hehe. They just lay there with their raw hides. Have a great week! xx

It’s so funny, I was just thinking of wearing a dress over jeans today. But for very different weather, it’s winter and so cold here! I ended up sticking to my fleece-lined tights!

It’s exciting you got invited to do the video, even if you didn’t make the final cut! I agree video is exhausting – even for me behind the camera! So I don’t do it often.

Thank you for the link up!

Hope you are having an awesome week so far! 🙂
