Turning Heads Linkup – Mixing Spring Patterns with New Camo Skirt

Floral top

Hi friends!

How is everyone?  I hope I can spread a bit of joy with some Spring fashion at least! We all need something that will bring a smile to our faces, and I am glad I can help in that way as well. I know it can be a struggle, all we can do is support each other and do our best.

Women's floral blouse

Outfit

As a preface, and as I mentioned yesterday, I am wearing mostly athleisure, and slippers around the house, but am sharing these outfits as ideas for the future when we do get out and about.

Today it is a mix of old and new. Before the Coronovirus hit, I had made some on-line purchases for Spring and was awaiting the weather to take some of these pieces out.

I have quite a few casual sandals in my collection, espadrilles and the like. On my Spring Wish List post, I wanted a pair of cognac or tan strappy sandals to go with many of my Spring and Summer outfits. I wore my Mango croc square-toed pair yesterday, and these strappy off white Chinese Laundry pair today. Both of them will go with so much in my closet.

What I haven’t done yet is a pedicure. One of my friends suggested hubby paint my toenails, but he claims he doesn’t do toes. ( Although he’s never painted my nails yet either!) Well, it’s on the list for self-care, I suppose.

The camo jean skirt is new by  NYDJ and I love it! It will go with anything since the camo is a neutral print, much like a leopard.

I am wearing a size 2 in this skirt, so I sized down one for the perfect fit.

I love the mix of green/yellow and pink florals to mix with camo, that masculine-feminine feel that I love so much.  You may be seeing this skirt on repeat, as I bought it for Spring and Summer as an alternative to denim shorts and a blue jean skirt.

You could easily dress it casually with some fun sneakers and a graphic tee. Lots of ways to style it.

I’ve styled it here with an older floral blouse from Zara and a Zara bucket bag.

Music

I know music can often be healing, and I have been picking up my guitar this week. I am rusty since I haven’t played for 10 yrs when my condition was at it’s worst. I just want to play for fun these days and printed out a tune for hubby and I to play. My husband has been working on piano. I sat and played “Home Sweet Home” by Motley Crue, very aprapo!

So I was scrolling down through the blog posts linked up with our mutual friend Gail and came across your DARLING look. I know camo has been officially IDed as a neutral but I struggle to think outside the box. So while I have tried pink with camo, I have never tried a print with camo. I am going to be trying it now, for sure!!! Absolutely love this look. Have a tab open to check out the link to your camo skirt. Have a similar blouse I could pair with it. Anxious to try this combo. Thank you for the inspiration.

Love the color mixing and especially your sandals. I played dress up today, trying new combinations of things in my closet. It was fun-but for the day, I am usually in leggings and tunics-just easier to do everything I need to do that way. Take care and stay safe. XOXO Terri

Camo and floral together is delightfully edgy! The blouse is really lovely. It’s a fantastic look on you!

I need to do my toes too. My husband has done them. It’s a matter of getting organized. We’ve both been fully into our hobbies.

I can’t wait for a salon pedicure when I can get out of the house again! I keep doing my own, but it isn’t the same and doesn’t last nearly as long. Oh well, there are far worse things in life! I love your spring outfit! That top is just gorgeous!

I love the yellow in that floral top and that camo skirt is just adorable with it… such a great look and the pattern mixing works so well! I had to shave my hubby’s hair today with the electric razor he bought and it wasn’t so bad!! I was afraid I’d mess it up. lol.

What a beautiful way to mix prints with camo Jess. The dichotomy of the girly floral with the masculine camo…it’s just perfect.

I absolutely love these patterns together, Jess. What an inspired idea! The yellow floral is perfect for spring and improving one’s mood. It’s nice that you and your husband can play music together–what a joy! Yes, the pedicure–hmm. I no longer even have all the stuff to do that myself, but will have to do some sort of clean-up! Lol! I look forward to the other ways you style this great skirt. Take care.

I would have never thought to pattern mix both floral and camo. It’s a beautiful combo and something that is delightful to the eyes. I adore your floral earrings too – so pretty! That’s so cool that you can play the guitar. My son is into musical instruments and we pretend we are in a band with his toy instruments! My nails are in need of self care too so thanks for the reminder! Happy Tuesday!

This is awesome! Last Fall, I saw a combo of camo pants with a dark blue floral print top, and I thought even though I’d never thought to put them together, I loved the idea of combining them, and went out, and found me an appropriate shirt. Now, see a Spring version, I love it even more! Need to find me a nice, new Spring top now. Thank you for the inspiration!

I love this outfit, Jess. You can elevate a simple camo skirt into something special. I don’t often find prints I like, but will have to keep my eye out to emulate this look. I *do* have a camo skirt (I’ll have to double check that it fits!), but funny enough I *wasn’t* going to style it this week—hahaha! You’ve really had good luck with your new sandal finds.

you reminded me that I have a camo skirt. I love your floral mix here and the white/off white accessories were a smart mix. I love it. I also love that you’ve dusted off your guitar. I have as well. I never was good but the five chords I know are enough to have some fun. lol

I did my toes but I am definitely not very good at it. My hubby is funny, he won’t touch my feet either! Cute camo skirt. I am thinking a camo skirt sure would be a fun additiont to my closet this summer. Lots of outfit possibilities!

Jess, there are so many things to say about this post. First, this is a masterful mix of patterns. I love the brightly colored floral top on you and it is brilliant with the camo skirt. Second, your sandals and bag are adorable. I have the exact same bag from Charming Charlie. Third, boo on the hubs for refusing your toes! Now is a great time to try new things! And finally, thanks for continuing to share your light and great sense of style with us! Love you, my friend.

    Jess,

    I love your pattern mixing!
The floral top looks wonderful with the camo skirt!
I agree that music is very healing and I listen to classical music while reading.
I will pull out Frank Sinatra and dean Martin when I start cooking my Italian Easter dinner on Friday.
Glad you are playing the guitar again!

    Happy Easter,

What a lovely floral blouse for spring and I like your new sandals too! 🙂 I have been wearing pyjamas or loungewear most of the time at home, but I have taken the grocery shopping as an excuse to dress up a bit, or walk the dogs, haha! I’m going to try get dressed a little more frequently but not put the pressure on myself to do so if it’s a stressful morning with the kids and I have to log on to work!

    Thanks for the link up!

Hope that your week is going well 🙂 Another week of working from home here!
