Turning Heads Linkup- Mustard and Olive in the Hot Summer

Morning friends!

How are you faring?

Today we decided to do a photoshoot in the morning, and captured pictures at a local park called Robbins Park.

Outfit-weekend

It’s a beautiful park with lots of Crepe Mrytle trees, roses and grassy areas. We finally thought to go out in the morning to do photoshoots, as it is much cooler than waiting until the afternoon. I wore this same outfit to lunch, and boy, there was sweat on my sweat, I am telling you! Cool materials such as cotton and/or linen are a must nowadays. We did have a heatwave, but it still is hot here in Charlotte NC in July! Been having to take our walks in the morning, first thing.

Let’s face it. All the hair does is flop. Goes flat after a bit of time in the sun and humidity. Another reason to go first thing in the morning for photoshoots. I do my hair in hot rollers, it’s good for the pictures and then flop.. or I put it in a bun/ponytail.

I wanted to pair this Target mustard flutter sleeve top with my favorite old cargo pants in olive from Loft. I have had these pants or at least 7 years , and have them in multiple colors. I wanted to keep the neutral look with some gold threaded espadrille from Franco Sarto.

We had a nice weekend as I mentioned yesterday at Morgan Ridge Vineyard, had lunch out by the lake at a place called Port City Club, so there were 2 outings this week. My mom and we are more comfortable, and we go when no one else seems to go- early afternoon. At Morgan Ridge, we called ahead and they reserved a table and had our orders for lunch. We had some “hot dogs” with us and they were fine under the shade of the table and umbrella. Slushy wines were so good and we enjoyed some jazz music. We hadn’t been there in a few years, so I asked about the goats that were normally behind an electric fence. It seems that they all passed ( over 20 yrs old) except for one girl I kept trying to catch up with.

Great contrast between the flirty, feminine top and those funky, fun joggers. You wear that mustard color so well. I had 2 pair of olive joggers that I have probably emotionally eaten my way out of this year. Need to put them front and center in the closet and get back into them.

I always take my photos in the morning during summer because it’s the coolest part of the day (and I still find myself sweating so much!) This looks like a lovely location.

What a cute pairing Jess! I adore your blouse and so perfect in color. Love! Oh my goodness, yes! It’s been so hot lately that I just haven’t been interested in taking any photos. That and the pandemic. Hard to show up in outside clothes when it doesn’t represent my real life at the moment. I hope you are well and happy Wednesday!

I’ve been a strictly curly hair or bun hairstyle this summer! The humidity is just awful! At least your hair stays nice for photos! I love this stunning color combination! It’s beautiful with your hair color!

That top reminds me of the one I wore last week on IG…mine used to be a dress but I had my mom cut it shorter to a top length. It’s perfect with the olive green Jess.

Mustard and olive is such a great combination. And those fall colors look amazing on you, Jess! You guys are sure having some hot weather. Sounds like you’re making the most of it, though! Take care and have a good week.

I love the mustard and olive color combination! I don’t think I would’ve thought to try it myself, but it looks great. I’ve tried to take photos in the morning before but I always end up looking so tired and puffy, haha! You’re definitely right that it’s nice to beat the heat though. Pretty park!

It has been really hot in Pennsylvania too! I can’t wait until it’s cool down at least a little bit. I like the color combination of your outfit! It also works so well with your hair color. I love the style of this top, it has very interesting design. Stay cool!

I love this colour combination, and they suit you so well Jess. Our weather is typically British at the moment, a few days spoilt with glorious sunshine then lots of rain. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Such a great outfit, Jess! I love this shade of mustard on you! And those shoes are wicked cute. It has been so hot in northern New York as well. I have been mostly staying inside the air conditioned house. Thanks so much for the feature today, too! What a lovely surprise!

Mornings are nice to work in. Living in Florida, sometimes I find that even the mornings make me feel like I am melting. Hehe. But I am always up for trips to the park and such. I am picturing all those plants in bloom you mentioned.

Love the yellow top! Screams Summer to me.

Great looking outfit! Really like those shoes with that pair of slacks. You chose a pretty spot for photos. My hair does the opposite in the humidity. If it’s a good day, I get ringlets in front of my ears. If it’s a bad day, my hair swells and frizzes. Ugh.
