Turning Heads linkup – Olive Corset Top with Straw Bag

Hello friends!

I hope you all had fabulous Mother’s Days! I am only a pet mommy, but did send my mom a gift and card. Plus, she is coming to visit next month! I am looking forward to it.  My outfit today is a neutral casual look, worn with the new top I bought about a month ago from Express.  Last year, there was a ‘corset trend’. – belts, tops, etc. I saw the lace up style of this tee and thought, yes! If i am going to wear a tee , its gotta have a cute design or some detail that i really like. So, I bought it in white too… 🙂

Just me this week… hehe. Thanks for your lovely comments about the shoot last week, my niece had so much fun and it was a thrill to see one of our pics on Karina’s site. I told her we may be able to do another shoot in the future, but she had to come up and visit now that i bought a giant pink flamingo raft last year and havent had a chance to use it! You all know the ones I am talking about! They fit 2 adults and take up 1/4 of the pool! Love it!

Mom will be visiting in June, and we are also having walls in our house painted. Hallelujah! We have a two story greatroom, and our foyer, stiarway and hall also need to be painted. I am looking forward to having it done, white walls do not thrill me anymore! I have decided on a sage green for our foyer/stairs and hallway, blending nicely with the olive in the kitchen. The great room will be a light blue color going with our current artwork and deep chocolate sectional couch. Moving on… yes, fashion!

Corset Top and look

This tree behind me is one of the trees upon entrance to our 1 mile trail we have in virtually our backyard. It is not a paved trail, but gravel, yet I enjoy walking the pups a short hike down to the trail in the morning or mid afternoon. Its convenient, not heavily trafficked and a lovely area to just jaunt to, if we aren’t up to driving to the nearest Greenway.

I am a big fan of the “safari look” or whatever you want to call it – neutrals with straw bags, sandals or espadrilles, i love it! So, i styled my very comfy olive cargos from LOFT with the corset tank and added my Mango straw clutch I bought last year. I can’t seem to get enough of the straw bags! I could have easily worn it with my new circle straw bag, but thought i should vary it a bit!

I chose my gold ball drop earrings , gold flecked Franco Sarto espadrilles, and gold circular necklace( Sylca designs) to finish the look. I just received my prescription sunglasses from Eyebuydirect, so I wasn’t able to wear them in the shoot. But soon, my friends! I hope to also write a post on choosing eye glasses for your face shape.. as mine is oval and I need small frames. They aren’t always easy to find!

Anyhow, I do enjoy a monochromatic look for spring/summer, and this is both comfortable and offers enough detail to keep me interested! i have been checking out and getting a few pairs of earrings from Baublebar.. I could see how that would be addicting, so many cute styles! If i wanted to add color to this look, i would choose a pair of bright colored tassle earrings for just a pop!

It was so hot this past weekend, as we had a heatwave in the South! My hairstylist is showing me the best way to create a chignon, and I will most likely be wearing it this way or a ponytail in this kind of heat. We may discuss a Balyage technique for my hair.. I haven’t decided yet.

Just love this lace up top, so cute!! Express always has great things! That stray clutch is so cute and I love its size. I bet you can’t wait to have your mom visit and to have the rooms painted. I’d love to have a couple of rooms in our house painted, but first we need to get through our kitchen reno!!

Perfect outfit, Jess, I thought it was a jumpsuit at first, so clever is the colour marching. Your decorating plans sound wonderful and your mum’s visit will be so special. And I want a 2-seater Flamingo!!! Hugs, x.

Oh my Jess, I have so much to say about this post…lol. First, love that top. The corset style really shows off your darling figure and I am a huge fan of olive green. Same for sage green and I used to have it in my house in our living room and dining room. I really miss it. We went neutral this time and I don’t want to change it because we will eventually sell and relocate. How fun to have a trail right behind your house. My future D-I-Love just got the final part of her Balyage done yesterday. (I’m not sure it’s really supposed to take 2 appointments, but her hairdresser did it that way) I can’t wait to see a pic. I’ll bet it would be gorgeous on your hair. Whoo, that was a lot. Hope you’re having a grand week! XO

Hi Lisa, thanks so much! Glad you like the look, I thought the detail would be fun and it is already hot enough to wear. Yes, I cant wait to get the rooms painted, it has been too long! I know what you mean, as when we moved it was all white.. so you do hav to consider if you have to repaint. I wont be getting the Balyage done if I do, until late June, but it just looks so pretty! Thank you and have a wonderful week too! xx

I love the detail! It really makes the corset trend much more accessible—l liked it, when it came out last year, but couldn’t imagine myself wearing one here in Tampa. I would definitely wear the corset shirt! You are elegantly dressed and stylish as always. Thank you also for stopping by and joining in the Share Your Journey link up last Friday. It meant the world to me. Hugs, Nina at Sharingajourney.com

I love olive green for a redhead. The whole safari look is fresh and cool for summer. I have that same watch.

I’m a dog Mom too : ) The pug gave me lots of shedded hair as a gift. Seems like it’s the same gift every year! Ha!

The style of this top is lovely with the corset detailing and the olive color is beautiful. The color contrast between your top and necklace is nice. Love at how it just goes so well together. We also have a lot of house projects mainly maintenance. We have had our water leak in our master for over 9 months and finally found a contractor that was reasonable enough. Everyone else before this guy wanted an arm and a leg! Sheesh…but we are happy that it’s finally getting put back together then it’s off to get the outside of the house painted. Yikes! Anyway, I hope you are having a great week so far and happy Tuesday!
