Turning Heads Linkup – Santa Brought Me Paper Bag Faux Leather Trousers

Hi friends!

The first Turning Heads Tuesday linkup of 2020! Thank you for being here.

I don’t have Spanx leggings. They look great and I love the leather look, I just don’t like any kind of compression on my stomach. When I saw these paper bag waist faux leather trousers ( boy, that’s a mouthful!) I loved the look and sent Santa the link ๐Ÿ™‚

You might think Santa hubby would know my taste after 20 years together, but in defense, my taste has changed throughout the years. I do love trying new things and thought these looked relaxed, yet very stylish. Doesn’t the saying go ” New Year, New You, New Clothes?” ๐Ÿ™‚

My Outfit

Yes, I have been doing much of my shopping for clothes on Mango, and thrifting on Poshmark this year.ย  I have always liked the look of paper bag waist pants and have a pair of linen olive ones I wear in the summer. These just called out to me. I have a habit of looking at something multiple times and usually, that means it is something I want to style or could see it in my closet.

I am wearing a size XS in the pants here and they are very comfortable. With the higher waist and the paper bag style, you have to wear a close-fitting top or sweater to create a slim, streamlined silhouette. Unless you are wearing a cropped top or sweater, you have to tuck in the top, so you don’t want bulk there. I picked the pea-green blouse I’ve had for years from Banana Republic, and love the combination with black.

I received some sweaters this year for Christmas and would wear a few of them with the pants, as long as they are a light knit. A chunky knit wouldn’t look best with these pants as you may have to tuck it in, again creating too much fullness or material at waist/stomach area. Opt for a blouse or a light knit for these Winter months to wear with these fashionable pants.

I went through some trial and error when it came to buying black pumps. I wanted a pointed toe pair with block heels. I first bought several sizes of Marc Fisher Zala pumps ( 8,8.5) and no matter what I bought they were too long. I loved the style but returned those. I then went on Amazon and found these Marc Fisher Claire pumps, 2.34 in heels for more than 50% off the other pair. Sold! I will add some cushioning in as insoles and they will be good, and for under $50, ( ON SALE NOW )are quite pretty.

Not quite sure why I don’t pay attention to dimensions on websites. I bought these gold hoop earrings on Mango’s sale, and do really like them, even though they are larger than I thought. I just love the classic style of a gold hoop.

New Year- New Decade.

I mentioned on my 2020 Goals post, that I joined the gym I used to go to before I got sick. Now, I qualified for “Silver and Fit” and BCBS pays for the gym! I pay $15 for the year, and I am ready to try some pool classes and machines. Besides my doctor’s appt today, this week I will try and use the pool. It should be fun! ( as long as its warm!)

Readers, I want to hear from you, once I create my survey for EDS blog, I’d love to know some of the content you prefer on the blog. More about you. all that good stuff!

Let’s make 2020 a great year! Come on! Oprah said so! ๐Ÿ™‚ Did you hear about her Vision Tour? It’s so important to live the life you want! I want to help you create a closet that you love and enjoy. Deciding what to wear can be fun and shouldn’t be stressful, so I’ll be sharing some ways I style key pieces this year, among other things. I also love to write about health, fitness, and beauty in addition to fashion.

My coat from Mango 2 years ago. I love the teal blue color and its just the right weight for NC Winters.

See, I need to get a top like this for next yrs New Years to wear with my pants!

HAPPY 2020 EVERYONE! LET’s START THIS LINKUP OFF RIGHT AND COMMENT ON OTHER BLOGGERS, VISIT, MAKE THEIR DAY!

I like the paper bag pants. I love how these do not have a big tie belt on them. I have a cotton pair for summer and the belt just feels like it sticks out too far when tied. You are rocking the leather look!

Happy New Year. Yes, I like that too about them. I have a pair for summer with the belt, like you.

Love your leather pantsโ€”I recently got a pair of faux-leather joggers and I agree, they’re far superior to leather leggings! Happy new year, friend!

These trousers look amazing on you Jess! It’s fun and unique. Most of all, I love how classy it looks. Swimming will be fun and relaxing! So glad you are able to get back to it. It’s one of my favorite activities! I hope your first week of the New Year is going well so far and happy Wednesday!

Jess, another gorgeous outfit! I love that shade of green on you. What a great deal on the shoes!

And that is awesome of BCBS to cover most of your gym membership. I hope you are able return, find it beneficial, and enjoy it. The gym was always a challenge for me, because I resented the time it took away from chores / creativity, but I went in fits and starts. Then exercise started wiping me out for days on end due to the fibromyalgia, so I couldnโ€™t go without truly causing myself harm. And now I resent not having the choice to go! LOL! But Iโ€™m working on it.

I’ve been looking at these faux pants for some time but I don’t think they would look as great on me as they do on you! They are super cute and the heels are just right.
I hope your new year is off to a good start. As you (and Oprah!) say, let’s live the life we want this year!

    xx Darlene

    Jess,

You look wonderful in the paper bag faux leather pants.
Me, not so much! I thought I would like them but being short waisted they didn’t look good on me.
You are so blessed with being tall and thin!

    Happy New Year!

I have the Spanx faux leather leggings and yes, the compression on the stomach is something you kinda have to get used to… it’s not just high waisted, but actual compression! Especially if it is after the holidays and you’ve enjoyed too many cookies and sugar lately! Lol! I LOVE your alternative, these faux leather paper bag pants are SO sleek and stylish! I love the fitted shirt AND that coat with them!
